We gave this place a try this weekend. We picked up our dogs, and they returned all of our items including beds, blankets and toys, all covered in dog pee. They just threw the items into the bag, and they were soaked in pee. Along with that, the two dogs smelled like pee. It was really disappointing.

Every other place I have been to washes the items before returning them. It makes me think there is a possibility the dogs weren't taken out enough, or were neglected. I guess you never know and/or cant really tell. I didn't leave with a good feeling and I won't be returning.

What are some good animal boarding places in town?

I use All Pets (Rock Prairie/Wellborn)--never any problems and my dogs all get baths before I pick them up.

I liked the Aggie Pet Zone and would recommend them to others. Maybe your dogs are different than mine? Mine can be left inside for 12 hours without an accident. Also, I didn't take any beds, blankets or toys. I just took the dog and a leash.

Did you get one of the "Doggie Suites" or did you pay for a normal kennel?

I have never used a place that washes bedding upon return, but then again, I've used only three places, all here in town. Is it possible that these other places were washing bedding because the dogs soiled it?

why not use a pet/house sitter? your pets are safe within their home environment with much less stress.

^ some people, like me, live way out in the sticks and it is not worth the extra $$ to pay someone to drive out to my house.

Since in house dog sitter was mentioned, does anyone have anyone reputable they have used? I prefer to have the dogs in my home, but then there is the whole "stranger" in your house situation.

Our experience at Aggie Pet Zone has been excellent. One of the employees actually used turkey from their lunch to lure our crazy timid dog out of his kennel. You can't ask for better than that!

Pet sitter all the way! Why not pay the extra $$ for your beloved pet's safety, well being and happiness? Kennels are normally very stressful for animals, the stress can compromise their immune system and cause them more likely to get sick since they're in close quarters with other animals. Why not leave them in the environment they are happy in and less likely to get injured or sick? And you get the added bonus of your house looking a little more like it's occupied when you're gone.

We use BYD Ranch and Kennel, although they aren't in town (they're north off of 21 on the east side of town). We have a shy guy who thinks almost every dog but his "sister" is out to get him, but even he is soooooo excited when we pull through the gate at BYD.

We also used Lovan Care (on University, just east of Texas Ave) before our dogs got too big (we have two Pyrenees mixes, and although Lovan Care never said our animals were too big, we felt their play area wasn't adequate for our pups anymore). I would definitely recommend them for smaller dogs (I'd say ~40 lb and under).

I don't think they ever wash your towels or blankets but maybe they aren't letting the dogs out often enough. Try Lovan Care or Wellborn Rd Vet.

Our dogs would rather stay at Aggie Pet Zone than come home! They love it there!

I use Lovan Care and the Pet Zone (and am happy with both), but I can tell you that Pet Zone lets the dogs out far more frequently than Lovan Care. I hope you find a place that you like.

I use vet students. They spend the night and I really like that! I choose them very carefully and usually use them for several years until they graduate.
