We need your assistance in locating two possible witnesses. During the investigation we have learned that there were two witnesses, that were present at the same time the suspect was in the restaurant, that we have been unable to talk to. It is very important that we locate and talk to these witnesses. We appreciate your help in this matter.

Witness #1 White male wearing a brown jacket (possibly a Carhartt style jacket) was eating dinner in the restaurant at the same time the suspect was in the restaurant. He left driving a car that appeared to be a Chevrolet Camero.

Witness #2 Older white male in the restaurant, possibly in the restroom area, just prior to the stabbing. This gentleman was also back in the restaurant yesterday (January 13th) and it is believed that he has a daughter that lives somewhere in the area.

I think that they are hoping to find out who they are without having to put their faces out there for the world to see.

TLIAC, did these two witness the stabbing or just there before it happened?

I can't imagine being a witness to something like that and then leaving the store without telling the police everything you had just seen.

If they left before and didn't see the crime, what info would you guys be needing?

They may have walked right past the girl and not known that she had been stabbed. You're used to special effects in movies, where blood spurts out for yards. If it was a puncture with a thin blade bleeding might not have been obvious, especially if she was wearing a winter coat that was dark in color.

There are cases where people are stabbed or shot and don't know what happened to them: the brain doesn't process it. Finally it will be like, "What's this wet stuff on my sleeve" and they finally figure it out.

Besides, I can't imagine any sane and normal person looking and saying "Wow, that kid just got assaulted with grave bodily injury, bummer, dude," and going on their merry way.

It was posted on one of the other threads, I think by TLAIC, that they charged him with is a first degree felony, where attempted murder (or whatever the official name for it in TX is) is a second degree felony.

He was charged with the highest offense possible. Injury to a Child is a 1st degree felony. Punishment ranges from 5 < 99 yrs in prison.

Sorry - I'm been out of pocket today. The witnesses were in the restaurant before the stabbing but at the same time the suspect was there. The detectives are trying to tie up loose ends and need to make contact with everyone who was there when he was there. Also, the info above is correct. A felony 1 charge is the highest charge possible short of a capital offense which while I know that many people wish was possible in this case - isn't.
