Recently bought a car from a friend and needed to transfer the title/register the car. This is my first time doing this in Brazos county. I was kind of worried about having to go down to the courthouse in Bryan to do this. Travis County has a really, really nice main facility, as well as satellite offices, and I honestly wasn't sure the experience here would be as good.

Anyhow, long story short, getting the title transferred/car registered was painless: the woman helping me was both friendly and quick. There was no line at all at 8:30am this morning, either, and there were plenty of people manning the place. Good show!

Service at that office has greatly improved in the past year or so.

I remember when I worked at the tax office back in August of 1977 and that was the last year that all the license plates expired on March 31, 1978. We were also in the main courthouse bldg across from the probation office. There was a narrow courtyard between the two bldgs and people were lined up and down and around the bldg all the way to near the clerk's office at 7:45 am waiting to get their tags. They would not let me in and finally we opened and we had seven windows open and everyone filed in. Then people would get mad when one of the clerks left for lunch and one doctor had been in line for three hours and told one clerk who was leaving for her lunch that he hoped she choked on her lunch. I finally had to tell him this is what you get for waiting till the last minute to get your tags. Once they began staggering the plates by numbers it got better but folks still wait until the last day of the month to get their tags and still complain about waiting in line. So funny..
