The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University, in partnership with Texas A&M's MSC Town Hall, welcomes Lyle Lovett and his Large Band in concert Thursday, November 11 at 8:00pm in Rudder Auditorium. Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Association of Former Students.

Lovett, a 1979 graduate of Texas A&M University, approached The Association in September about the concert as a way to multiply his own personal contribution to the recent enhancement of the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center.

Porter S. Garner III '79, President and CEO of The Association of Former Students, commended Lovett's support of The Association and Texas A&M University.

"Lyle is a great Texas Aggie who cares deeply about The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M, and represents us well," Garner said. "We are thrilled to have Lyle use his immense talent to benefit Texas A&M. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band will put on a superb show for all of Aggieland."

One of the great all-time American singer/songwriters, Lyle Lovett is currently on tour with his Large Band supporting his most recent studio album, Natural Forces. For nearly three decades, Lovett has defined the modern Texas singer-songwriter. Fusing elements of the blues, country, folk, gospel and jazz, four-time Grammy winner Lovett—in a career that spans 14 albums and more than four million records sold—has created his own style of Americana, defying convention and breaking down barriers along the way.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, October 15 at Texas A&M’s MSC Box Office. Packages ranging from $20 to $100 plus tax are available, with the top tier concert package including an invitation to a private reception with Lyle Lovett. Texas A&M students, faculty and staff are eligible for a $5 discount with valid Texas A&M identification. For more information on tickets, please visit http://boxoffice.tamu.edu or call (979) 845-1234 or (800) 892-5667.

The Association of Former Students, established in 1879, is the official alumni organization of Texas A&M University. The Association connects the 500,000 members of the worldwide Aggie Network with each other and the University, and provides more than $6.4 million a year in impact to University scholarships, awards, activities and enrichment for students, faculty, staff and former students. Mrs. Ro briefly met him when she stood in line behind him at a ice cream place in Brenham. People were telling him to go to the head of the line, but he didn't, said he was just there to get Blue Bell like everybody else.

I've seen Lyle about 10 times and can say that he and his Large Band put on the best show you will ever see.

You can bet your you-know-what that the wife and I will be there.
