How does this compare to the one already in CS or in Bryan?

Sounds like the same departments just an expanded selection. It will still be a great addition.

Now if only they could keep out the college students......

Anyone else skeptical of the Sept. opening date?

I'm very skeptical of a september open. Drove by it yesterday and looks like they've still got a lot of work to get done. If it is september I think it will be late september.

A betting pool on the exact opening date is out of the question, no?

I understand Sept 29th to be fairly firm - they're working on the inside a lot right now. Two weeks ago they were working to get refrigeration set - then it's fill and finish.

Fun stuff! It will be a nice addition to the neighborhood. And, it is bigger than the others in our area.

They do not have as much work left to do on that site as it would appear. Spawglass will be delivering the finished product to HEB on September 17th.

It's not gonna be big draw for college students anyways... it's too far south from where they are mostly populated.

I hope the students don't go out there...They have their own HEB mess on Texas ave.....

If only they can get rid of people that are too lazy to put up their carts

If only they can get rid of people that are too lazy to walk and just use the motorized carts to go buy more fattening foods and 20 packs of sodas

If only they can get rid of the people that think the fire lane is a drive-thru/drop-off for people that are too lazy to park and get a Starbuck's

Oh, this is gonna be great!

Now if only they could keep out the women who must open their pocket books when the final tally is made only to search through the thing to find 87 cents in nickels, dimes & pennies to pay their bill totalling $156.87. Sheesh ... go to Village Foods!

I went to the new HEB store in Katy. It is identical to the new one on Fitch. The meat and seafood will be AMAZING!!! I got a Kobe ribeye. It will be plenty fancy for the southside.

The pharmacy will have a familiar look. It's bigger than the other HEBs in BCS and there's gonna be a double drive-thru. Good lookin crew too.

I have heard that the store is a little behind but not much. For now, there is no delay on the grand opening. I can't wait!

I just want to know where the people usually shop who seem shocked, stunned, surprised they need to pay after the clerk has rung up the total. It must be great to get free groceries.

Silly me, I always expect to pay and have my method of payment ready to go.

88,000 sqft...that's a big store

going to bring in a nice property tax and utility bill/payment to the city

also a good place to stop and pick up a last minute tailgate item if you're coming in from Houston for the game

Yes, but the actual retail space is LESS than the Texas Ave. store.

What's the retail space of both stores?
PorkyAg11
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If I recall correctly the grocery/gm (normal aisles plus frozen) space of the Texas avenue store is around 70k
Whereas the tower point is going to be around 65k.

They will have larger areas in the back of the house as well as expanded facilities for fresh meat counters/deli.

Think about it...All of the stores in that part of town (from about rock prarie down south) have prices a little bit more than the same stores as the middle of town.Just go do a price comparison.I have. And the father south you go,The more prices on the samethings goes up little by little.
RafterAg223
How long do you want to ignore this user?
HEB will not have higher prices down South. That is not how they operate as a company.

On most non-sale items that are carried at both stores you are correct.

But they have some different items, and have different weekly sales. CS stores have a more disposable income client base.
