Yeah Rueben Studdard used to "rep" his area code when on Idol- it's super gangsta'.

You are straight fronting. If I am up in the 979, then I don't have to dial 979.
Check it: If i want to be calling time and temp to get my knowledge on about the current time and temperature in the 979, I just have to dial 822-6712, NOT 979-822-6712. Word?

Unless of course, I am on a line that is tied into a building telephone system, in which case, I straight gotta dial 9 to get out that sucka'.

Its a local monthly entertainment type paper along the lines of what the Spotlight used to be. Live music listings, local band writeups, burger reviews, random rantings, CD reviews, etc. But put out by and geared more towards the local B/CS underbelly. As opposed to something more student oriented like The Maroon Weekly.

I thought it was just the phrase that was in question, and perhaps it was seen on one of those giant t-shirts they sell at the mall.

I read it weekly and keep up with the local non-country music scene through it. The people who put the paper out are writers, artists and musicians, and help make the area more interesting!

My Blockbuster card still has 409 on it. I think that is my only tie to the old days.

409 = old army

713 = older army. (yes we used to be 713 back in the day)

Shirts, fine. But these gang members who get a 979 tattoo are idiots. They're already idiots, but that's another story.

I'm old enough to remember when this was the 409 area code. It could change.

Of course, gang involved teenagers aren't famous for thinking ahead, either.
