I am looking for a local church to have my wedding ceremony at next April. We have a reception site but I need to find a church that will allow us to have a ceremony around 5-6pm because we cannot decorate the reception until the day of the ceremony. We would also prefer the rental price to not be excessive i.e. $1500

Christ UMC has a beautiful facility and I seem to remember it being in your price range.

+1 for Christ UMC on hwy 6.

we got married there before they built the new building and it was the right size. also the reception building there worked out great as well.

no alcohol allowed there...saved a crapload of money though.

We just attended a wedding at Reliance Baptist Church on Saturday (Briarcrest exit - about 8 miles out on the left). I understand the price was quite reasonable.

Where are you having the reception? [edited to add: I meant geographically, not a specific location - will it be in Bryan, central B/CS, south College Station?]

You might consider getting married in a church that you plan to attend. If you got involved now, by next April you'd have a loving church family to support you when you marry. What a great way to start!

It 'might' be possible to rent the chapel at St. Michael's Episcopal School, depending on the timing. It is a fairly large chapel that is very nice.

You can call the school and ask for the Head of School to find out.

All Faiths is nice...that is where my wife and I got married! Back then, you had to shoo away the dinosaurs from the front door, but they went extinct, so all is good now.

What a novel idea to join the church and become a member of the church family. That way you don't just use the facility but rather be part of the congregation and live your faith.

+1 for Findlaydy. And some churches don't charge members for using the church as a wedding site; however, most folks select a church for other reasons.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I do have a local church I attend but unfortunately the ceremony times they offer will not work for us and our reception site options.

A lot of people like A&M United Methodist's sanctuary because of the architecture, pipe organ and stained glass windows--very tradition. The last I knew, they offered services at 11:00, 3:00, and 7:00. When we got married, they didn't deviate from those times. The cost was affordable--at the time, I believe it was somewhere between $300 and 500.

I recommend A&M United Methodist. It is very beautiful with all the stain glass. Also the rental is only $900 and all the pastors there(Kip and Laurinda) are great. I am getting married there on June 26 at 6pm and the whole staff will work with you on music and they can change the time to fit what best works for you.

+1 for All Faiths on campus. The wife and I were married there this December. If you are a student its $120ish for a day, $200 or so if you aren't a student (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Had a small wedding of about 50 people and had the reception at Cafe Eccel...got out of there with steak dinners for everyone, for less money than what some of the facilities in Bryan were wanting in rental fees alone.

I highly recommend both.
