Is there a local store that sells higher end shaving creams and soaps and also safety razors. I remember a store like that at a mall in Austin but I haven't ran across one here. I know I can get it online but would like to look at all the products.

You're going to wind up in Houston, probably at the Galleria. Caswell Massey used to have a store in West Oaks mall on Highway 6, but now there are very few of their stores because of the company's money problems.

I used to buy almond shaving soap there, and had a nice mug and my Dad's old brush.

You can get Kiehls and Art of Shaving around town. Those are both very nice.

I can recommend some high-end shaving creams, after-shave lotions, etc., but I go through mail-order. As far as razors, I'm unsure what the best avenue would be to procure a decent razor that you can't also purchase from a local grocery...

Sometimes the $0.99 disposable razor 10-pack from HEB just doesn't cut it (pun intended)...

I use a safety razor, badger hair brush and a high end shaving cream and I get it all online. Honestly, you'll find the best prices online and it will be the same type of stuff you'll get in the shops. That's just my recommendation b/c it's more economically feasible.

Dr. Teeth's post in this thread mentions where to get good shaving cream locally:

I concur with the online recommendations.

I have tried every shaving cream out there and like Proraso the best. If you want to pick it up locally, Bath & Body Works sells it as part of their C.O. Bigelow collection. It's just re-branded for them to sale.

For razor blades, I always find my best prices on Ebay. I use Feather razors which are generally regarded as some of the sharpest available. If you haven't already, try a sampler pack from http://www.westcoastshaving.com.

For razor and brush, check Amazon. I got my Merkur razor and badger hair brush from Amazon for considerably less than some other websites.

Aw crap. This thread reminds me... I still owe someone a razor...
