Are you trying to piggyback my scorpion thread from the General Board?

Well, apparently I need to check that general board more often because it keeps jumping up like this!

Is it the Five Star General board you're talking about? Surely it couldn't be as interesting a conversation about scorpions as this one could it? ;-0

I have been stung by scorpions several times. I grew up in the Hill Country and we had them pretty bad. the sting is not bad, its very similar so a bee sting, hurts for about 10 minutes pretty badly and then goes away.

When you are 10 years old and the scorpion is in a boot that you can't get off it feels a lot worse than a bee sting, I swear they can sting more than once... and the memory lasts at least 46 years. Now that I've seen Scott's warning I'll have to start shaking out my shoes again.

I was stung in the little finger as a child and as I remember it hurts like hell, even from a tiny scorpion.

Very glad to have seen none by my house.

I somehow built my house on top of the Scorpian Kingdom and see them almost daily during warmer seasons. Worst sting ever-- shoved both arms down into a laundry hamper and--- yowza!

We have different types out here. Little brown ones, and big juicy pink ones. I find that the pain lasts way longer than a wasp or bee sting (lots of those as well). Usually painful for at least an hour.

Have you ever noticed any issues with contacting folks via gmail? I used the form at your website and then followed up a week later with a plain e-mail to "service at venuspest dot com" and never heard back from either. Wondering if maybe gmail is blocking you guys?

Got stung by a scorpion when I was 8 or 9 and that hurt like hell. Got stung by 30 or 40 yellow jackets in the face when I was 5 and would rather that happen again than a scorpion.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine was over at my house and he was sleeping on the floor. He got stung on his back six times and we couldn't find the scorpion. The next night at about 3 am I was asleep and rolled over on my back. I rolled right on top of a scorpion in my sleep in my bed and I woke up immedietly because it stung me twice. I did indeed kill it. It hurt three times as bad as a wasp, made my lips tingle. Interesting feeling for sure!

Glad to know I'm not the only one that thinks a scorpion sting hurts like hell...after reading lilHtownAg post, I thought I must be a wiener. :-D I've been stung a few times, and I always manage to get stung in the same place - the arch of my foot. OUCH!

When I was younger, my parents built a home in the country and we had scorpions show up pretty frequently. I remember being stung a good dozen or so times and while it did hurt, if I had to choose [lol] I'd pick a scorpion sting over a wasp/bee or anything of that nature. I've had a good bit of experience with all three of those! None of them are fun, thats for sure.

I think reactions to each of those stings [Pain, itching, swelling, allergic reactions, etc] can possibly vary from person to person, though.

Played with scorpions as a kid, when we'd visit family in West Texas and the Hill Country. Their sting reacts worse for me than wasps or bees. I got stung by a big brown one when I was 8, one of the ranch hands on my great grandfathers place, had me press his used Copenhagen on the sting and the pain went right away. Grossed my mom out, but worked like a charm.

Have been stung before... last year maybe or year before. Yes, they do hurt a lot. The way they look really creeps me out! Have yet to figure out how they get in ..

1,500 species of scorpions? DANG!

I used to see scorpions regularly around B/CS 40 years ago. After the fire ants invaded the area in the 1970's, I haven't seen one since.

Now they're back? I guess it goes to reason since bullfrogs and other creatures are starting to reappear. Did the fire ants have any effect on them at all or is it just my imagination?

I killed two in the living room about three weeks ago. So I finally broke down and ordered a UV-LED replacement for my flashlight and it arrived Tuesday; within fifteen minutes I found four on the exterior of the house.

We use to catch them regularly in Sur de Tejas for fun. You can pinch the stinger from behind with your thumb and index finger and pick them up. You can feel the stinger moving but they can't get you. It was great for show and tell till my mother hit a bump on the way to elementary school and a jar full tumped out on the front seat. Luckily my brother quickly picked about eight up and dropped them back in the jar.

Been stung more than once, it is a non event. About like a wasp, although once I had a bit of soreness in my extremity not normal for a wasp sting. If you want to experience real pain.... smash an asp crawling up the inside of your jeans into your leg.... I almost threw up.
