The only thing I do is stay off the street as much as possible.
I'll be in Houston for a wedding. GREAT timing! For those in town, this is the weekend to hit up downtown Bryan. Avoid chain restaurants at all costs.

Yes, we criticize because we see on a daily basis what freaking Rons (short for morons) the youngsters can be. Somebody did a great job instilling common sense and personal responsibility into them.
I have been on campus when there was barricade tape put up for a gas leak, and for a crane making a lift. Even with safety people around to keep clueless students out of harm's way, they walk up to the tape while texting, or in one case road a bike up to the tape while texting, lifted the barricade tape, and tried to head towards a suspended load or a leaking pipe.
Yes, we will criicize. And not unfairly. And not without basis.

rock, I've seen the locals do the exact same things, so let's not point fingers at the students. many people here in the micro-plex are morans.

That's pretty much every weekend.
And as bad as parent's weekend is... move-in weekend is worse. The only think worse than thousands of bad drivers descending on College Station is thousands of bad drivers descending on College Station pulling trailers.

Downtown Bryan is having a Street and Art Fair from 10am-6pm on Saturday along with all the usual awesomeness in Downtown Bryan.
As for me, I am spending Friday night here and then getting the hell out of dodge on Saturday and avoiding CS at all costs.

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to try to get reservations at Haiku this weekend? DH's birthday was last week and mine is next week. We wanted to take the family out for hibachi. I totally forgot about parents weekend. We may have to make it next weekend instead.
Well, I see things from both sides. Kids walking around texting has little correlation to their parents teaching them to drive. Now, I will admit that I've seen folks doing all sorts of things on the freeways in H-town.

For restaurants, the chains will be CRAZY. try eating early or late, and also, try fontanas on Texas ave. New italian locally owned store. Also, pho johns Vietnamese cuisine on Texas ave is VERY good. If you like spicy, try the lemon grass shrimp or chicken.

This! I was cut off twice yesterday in less than a quarter mile by parents who didn't realize they had to get in the left lane to exit HWY 6 to get to campus.
