As I mentioned in the original thread about the wreck involving CSPD Officer Tracy Sheets, the College Station Police Officer's Association and the College Station Professional Firefighter's Association IAFF L4511 is combining to do a benefit BBQ for Officer Sheets to help offset some of their costs.
On Friday, February 19, from 11am to 2pm at Veteran's Park, we will be serving barbecue with all the trimmings. It will be a come and go event with the opportunity to take plates to go, or sit down to eat, as well have an opportunity to meet and socialize with the local police officers and firefighters who serve you. The public is invited, and it will be on a donation basis.
I will add this: this fundraiser is NOT because the City isn't paying for the costs associated with Officer Sheet's injuries; as you would expect, insurance and worker's comp is covering costs directly related to the injury and treatment. Despite this, there are still costs that are associated with an unfortunate event such as this that are borne by the family, such as lodging where she has been hospitalized, meals during that time, fuel expenses, etc.
This event is possible through generous donations from The Eccell Group, C&J Barbecue, Readfield Meats, Chick-Fil-A Post Oak Mall, Team TexStar Graphics, and others.
edit: TIME CORRECTION: 11am to 2pm
