Random thread but I'm an avid sandwich enthusiast and I'd love to know what I may or may not be missing.

My favorite food in the world happens to be the turkey sandwich from Austin Java Company. They throw slabs of turkey on homemade bread and then throw spring mix, tomatoes, onions, some kind of chipotle mayo and cranberry sauce on top. It's amazing(to me at least). Anyone know of anything similar here in town?

IMO, Firehouse Sub is the best in town.

Mcallisters, Blue Baker and Jason's deli are the main ones I go to.

I have never had it, but my friend swears by the smoked turkey breast sandwich at wings and more.

Must be Heaven? Haven't been in a while, but they were great.

+1 for Jason's

I'm a fan of Sub Culture and Honey Baked Ham. If I go to Jason's Deli, I usually get a wrap rather than a sandwich. McAlister's is also good. Not a fan of Blue Baker.

Was New York Sub on northgate. They are all about the same now however the #9 at Jimmy Johns is pretty darn good.

Blue Baker makes the best sandwiches, and nobody else is even close.

In addition to some of the previous suggestions, I like Village Cafe's sandwiches (downtown Bryan).

Square One Bistro in downtown Bryan has some great sandwiches. The Cranberry Turkey sandwich is delicious! Sliced turkey breast on a toasted croissant with sprouts, tomato, bacon and a cranberry cream cheese spread.

I'm looking for an egg salad sandwich. Anyone know where I can find one?

Besides Jason's Deli, they put green olives in it. That's not right.

Depending on the kind of sandwich I want, my vote goes to McAlisters or Fire House Sub. Both have outstanding quality food and the best service in town.

After watching Food Network a lot, I'm convinced that we don't have any truly great sandwich places here in town. They're all mass-produced chains. Must Be Heaven and Blue Baker might begin to come close but...I'm afraid we just don't have anywhere fantastic.

The julius caesar sandwich at Cafe Capri. Now that is good!

Both Must Be Heaven and McAllister's have been very accommodating while preparing a Reuben the way I like them, with several changes from the standard Reuben protocol. I have several favorites from Blue Baker as well. However, if the bread is good and there are plenty of veggie options, I'm not really particular about sandwiches. The only deal breaker for my taste buds is any hint of sugar or honey in the bread. I've had to skin a sandwich and eat the innards more than once because of a hint of sweetness in the bread.

I really love the Earl at Blue Baker. Madden's has some great sandwiches as well; they also have a grilled cheese served with tomato soup that's delicious! I know grilled cheese is simple enough to make at home, but they do it on some very tasty bread with a good mix of cheeses. Yum!
