I'm contemplating one or the other and would like opinions on those who actually have one of these packages.

Verizon offers Phone and Internet through their own services and a package deal from Direct TV with discounts for first year.

Suddenlink offers Internet and TV and essentially what ends up being VOIP phone service.

Anyone who has either of these packages, let me know how it is working out, especially VOIP suddenlink phone service.

A couple of things before the replies start.

1) yes, I know that many of you haven't had a landline in years. That's good for you... you are a hero to all.

2) I already have Suddenlink cable, but with my birthday coming up I may suddenly have a large screen HDTV.

3) I already have verizon phone and internet.

I'm trying to get everything on one bill with HDTV service and DVR.

Thanks in advance.

Suddenlink phone service is fantastic. As are all their other services.

You will most likely hear 2:1 how great Verizon is over Suddenlink. I think it speaks volumes when the myBCS.com posters talk.

Go with Suddenlink.

I have great respect for Nom and his commitment to Suddenlink.

We changed to Direct/Verizon earlier this year and it's worked great. The DVR holds more - you can schedule it to record from your cell phone - and we have had no more interruptions than we had back when we were with Suddenlink.

We have a home alarm (monitored) that we rely on and it would not work right with SL phone. That combined with having babysitters in the house led us to keep the Verizon landline.

Monthly for everything it's about $150 for us with taxes.

Verizon/Direct for the win.

easy, great customer service, one bill. i called for equip upgrade today and immediately got a live person who scheduled the upgrade and because the soonest appointment was 2 weeks away and that was inconvienent they gave me a credit to my bill. happy.

We switched from Suddenlink to the Verizon/Direct package last summer and I wish that I had done it sooner. More channels, more HD channels, and a WHOLE lot less problems with the internet. I'll never switch back.

I'm actually getting ready to go from directv back to cable.... directv has really been playing the raise our rate game the past few yrs. I'm actually going to be saving a few bucks switching back to cable.

Personally there is no way I could deal with only 3 mbit service (all I can get in my area). Do way too much netflix streaming to get dsl. Ive never had issues with the internet like some here (guess I live in a good area). Plus we will be getting a free upgrade to 10mbit next month.

With the new channel hd channel additions suddenlink is doing they have pretty much caught up to directv's count.... so thats no longer really an issue. But their dvr is horrible. I will not be using their dvr.... going to be adding cablecard to my media center (the best dvr on the market but is not for the average joe). Never have used their phone service so no experience there.

We have suddenlink DVR, HD channels, internet, phone, and our bill is about $175 per month. I always hear about people having problems with internet, but we never have any trouble (knock on wood). I also love how the caller ID comes up on the TV. Yes, sometimes I am that lazy.

Like Nom, I've been very happy with my Suddenlink phone, tv, and internet package. One bill, auto-charged to my credit card so I get points. At the time I researched it (and got rid of my Verizon phone service) Verizon didn't have an acceptable alternative. As far as I can tell; I have no incentive to switch again.

We have Suddenlink phone, internet and cable and have no complaints.

I've had suddenlink cable and internet for years but I just bundled and have been happy with the phone service and I love the DVR. I also think it's cool that if I'm watching TV, and the phone rings - the caller ID pops up on the TV.

My only issue was that when I called to bundle my service and set everything up they told me how much it would be each month but never mentioned anything about set up charges. I guess I didn't think about it because I already had two of the three services. Well those charges were over $100 and they wouldn't budge when I called to complain.

Oh well, live and learn. I should have asked.

Directv has been doing this for years... if you have the Verizon package.

i've got auto charge setup on my credit card as well Villager, for the DTV/Verizon combo.

I've also had nothing but great customer service from DirecTV, and the sports options offered by DirecTV are incredible. The only thing that I would consider changing from them, is if U-verse comes into this market. So yeah...i'll probably have DirecTV for life.

I've got HD DVR package, satellite receivers in two bedrooms, unlimited long distance on the phone, and DSL that I've never had problems with, for about $140-150 a month, including tax.

I went with the Suddenlink package since the Verizon thingy was going to leap up in price after 1 year after all the discounts end, plus I'm not stuck with a 2 year commitment.

As much as I dislike Suddenlink, they did come out lower than the Verizon package.

We'll see if I get what I pay for.

I switched from Verizon package (DirectTV) back to Suddenlink and we are very pleased. With DirectTV my monthly bill kept going up and I never changed anything. I'm very pleased with Suddenlink!!

Got this hooked up today.

Guys came in and realized they had to run a new line for the phone... said it would NOT cost anything extra. Took a little longer than normal because of that and they had an issue with their NOC team getting the phone part working.

But it's up and running. I was told there was only a $34.95 fee for visit. Hopefully I don't see a bunch of extra charges on the bill.

Going to be much cheaper than the Verizon deal, especially after the first year when all the Verizon discount/rebates would end.

suddenlink phone service is not 100%

if you need it in the middle of the night you might not have it ... as we did

Is any phone 100%?
MissMolly09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No. but Verizon is 99% on and suddenlink was about 55%

45% off is a lot and 99% doesn't seem like a very good percentage of being on.

someone didn't have phone one night and they are calling it 45% off?!?!?
