Do you know any parents of children who were in Harvey Little League? Do you have pictures or video of the team practicing or at games?

Goodmorning JerryHughesYourDaddy,

Thanks for your suggestion but I haven't had any luck. Unfortunatly, neither has chasing down vehicles with Harvey Little League stickers.

Do you know any of these parents?

Have you talked with the board members?

Yes, I've spoken with the Little League President and because it's an open investigation the board would rather not comment until the matter is resolved.

Thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate it.

This post sounds like 5th grade, asking one of your classmates to help you with your bookreport. Get out and do your own grunt work.

I think I know a couple of families. I have sent your contact info to them and will let them decide whether or not to get in touch.

Goodmorning snicks,

Fortunately, I have the privilege of not only talking to "officials" about stories that affect the community, but I also get the chance to go straight to the source-the community.

All stories affect the community in some way and it's always good to hear from the people. I think digging deeper to hear from the people is far from a 5th grade book report.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Would you happen to know any parents?

I don't see anything wrong with asking for people's help on here. No different than picking up the phone and cold calling people. I'd rather journalists do that than get one side of the story.

Good luck to you Shannon.

This isn't a dude asking for help on his term paper or some crap which happens alot on here. This person is a journalist looking for leads anyway they can, which I think is a good thing.

Shannon, don't worry about some of these people here. Anonymity on the internet is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

I know this person that is accused. All that I can say is that I am very sad for her and her family. Sometimes good people make bad decisions and, this is the case here. She will most certainly pay dearly, as will her family. I hope the best for her after she has paid that debt. I hope that she finds comfort in Gods' forgiveness. I will pray for her family as well in this terrible time that she has brought upon herself.

I am with you Ageepop,,this is a very kind family, and at this time, I pray for peace for her and her family. She is a good person that made a bad choice and she will have to answer for her mistake.

I appreicate your efforts to get as much information and use as many sources as you can.

Nothing wrong with trying blogs and forums.

My son had Mrs. Taylor for honors math in Jr. High and she was also the Jr. Honor Society Sponsor.

I was very disappointed and sad to hear this story. I am concerned for the Taylor kids and hope that the healing takes place sooner than later. Thoughts and prayers go out to them as well as all the other kids who have been affected by this.

The bigger picture is that this is the 5th non-profit (Food Bank, Brazos Animal Shelter, Junction 505, Fanin PTA and now Harvey Little League) in the last 10 years where a large amount of money has been embezzled. What is going on with our society?

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone and remember, DO THE RIGHT THING!!!

I'm a "good person", and I have thousands of dollars in medical debt alone, nevermind the other consumer debt that many of us carry (I haven't finished the Dave Ramsey plan yet).

However, I've not once thought about stealing to make my debts go away. I keep working and chipping away at it.

I don't know what this woman thought she needed the money for, but it sounds like she was employed.

How a person behaves when others are watching is no measure of their character, it's how we behave when no one else is watching.

Character (or lack thereof) is colorblind.

eta: is she sorry she took the money or sorry she got caught?

What is going on is that the majority of people have extended themselves financially far beyond their means, and in some cases, beyond their ability to even service the debt they have amassed. Desperation tends to lead weak-willed people to do stupid and dishonest things.

Organizations like these should be far more judicious in their selection of volunteers in leadership positions. Unfortunately, in my experience, good volunteers are hard to come by, even for an organization like Harvey LL that has a large pool of potential volunteers.

For the record, my kids play ball at Harvey.

Dr. Teeth ~ seems to me that a similar type thing happened a few years back in one of the leagues over in Bryan and a mother was at fault. Sad that things like this happen since it not only affects the person but their family also and of course the team or league. One cannot undo what has happened but let's hope that all can rise above what has happened. Would be good to have co-chairs when it comes to committees and that way you would not have just the one person responsible. It is hard as you say to find volunteers but someone should be able to be the main man/woman in this league.

Co-chairs would work, but again, it's hard to find even one volunteer, much less two.

I have no idea about whether this would be possible, but I think checking credit reports for volunteers that will have access to the funds would be a good idea.

With as many players that I see on the list on the website for the Harvey Little league, I would say that the parents should all be volunteers since they want their children to play. When they sign their kids up, give them a job or two to do. All money should be handed in to one person (an Accountant perhaps, if one of the parents is one) on a daily basis.

One cannot judge what has happened and we can only hope that something like this does not happen involving ourselves or our loved ones. We do not have control over what others do. God bless!!

The non-profits in this community have got to put dual controls in place when handling cash. No one knows what temptation will cause a person to steal. For some its $100 for others it is $100,000. Opportunity often convinces "good" people to make bad decisions. If there is no opportunity, then the crime is never committed. I am in no way excusing what happened here, but I wish our non-profits would learn from each other and protect themselves.
