Other than ABC Pest, Pool, and Lawn...does anyone have any recommendations for good pest control companies in Bryan-College Station? I'm moving into a house in the next two weeks and there are spiders everywhere.

I used Venus for carpenter ants and was very pleased.

I used 1 Above and they were great as well.

Venus Pest for sure! They're a sponsor here and we use them for regular mosquito and pest treatments. Haven't seen a roach or mosquito since we started working with them. Another thing I love about them is that they're a relatively small company, so it's often the same person that comes to our house each time, which we love! There's nothing worse then having a stranger wander around your house, so thanks Venus for making us feel safe and comfortable.

I'll add they even showed up for me on Saturday's when is outside the norm.

Before you move in to your new home is the perfect time to start a new pest control program! If you can get in there before moving furniture in etc, you can establish a really great defensive shield around your home so you are completely pest free when you move in!

Is it a new home? Even if its not - if it isn't too old - you should find out who did the termite treatment. See if they'll carry over the warranty to you if you keep using them.

Our pest person came today. We got home to find that he had gone through our pantry and removed several items with expired expiration dates (jello mix, a box of ritz crackers, some microwave popcorn, breakfast bars).

He placed the items on the counter with a note that they were expired and could attract weevils. Is this a normal part of pest control service? Just wondering.....

StoneFace - The worst pest infestation I ever saw was in an ex-girlfriend's home and focused on the pantry. If something else led him to it, it's a reasonable thing to call to your attention.

Besides... weren't you in the house with him? Do you regularly let tradespeople in your house without you? I trust the contractors I work with, but I always try to at least be in the house with them...

No, we were not home. It was ABC and we have never had a problem with them having access to the house while we are gone.

Nothing would lead him to the pantry, there are no pests so I guess this is just something they check. I just thought it was odd.

That does sound a little funny (strange). Rifling through your pantry without probable cause. Ha! Unless weevils were spotted during the service, then just rummaging through the pantry just checking dates is a bit too snoopy, IMO.

I checked with the service technician that did the pest service on your house. He said he was concerned about weevils and Indian meal moths in the pantry area. He said he normally inspects that area closely because these insects appear suddenly and a chemical treatment will not solve the problem of stored product pests. This technician has over 20 years of service and he always goes above and beyond the help keep every customer happy. We appreciate your business and welcome any questions or comments.

Thanks Jason, It's not that I really minded, just never saw it done before. And Mike is all about customer service, I could tell that from the times I was home when he came.
