We're looking at putting in some type of water filtration system and have a few questions. Bryan water is kind of hard on pipes and such, does it get expensive after a while replacing filters? Any major concerns with corrosion? Anything important we should consider?

Only looking at using it in the kitchen to improve drinking water and get rid of our water cooler. Don't know if an under-the-sink model is best or the one that attaches to the faucet. I personally don't like the taste of Bryan's tap water and the doctor told us it's not the best because of high sodium content.

Thanks!!

When water provided by a public water system meets all Safe Drinking Water Act requirements, there may not be any health-based benefit to add a water filter or drink bottled water. I drink it straight from the tap!

If it's just a taste issue you can put in an activated charcoal filter unit under the sink. You could also just pour some from the tap and keep it in an open pitcher in the refrigerator. This dissipates some of the chlorine odor & taste.

If you're looking to remove sodium from the water, do that through a reverse osmosis unit.

barbwire ~ Call Culligan at 979-846-0000 and tell them that 2Aggiefans sent you.

We have used them for our service for years and years because we do not like the taste of Bryan's water. My husband had a health problem and it helped lower his blood pressure.

They come to your house each time that the filter needs changed and they replace the whole unit each time, not just the filer.

Let me know if you do use them and I will give them a call and tell them that I sent you.

Once you are a customer, you can recommend people and Culligan will give you a gift card to a restaurant. Happy drinking!!

If you want sodium and chlorine free drinking water then a Reverse Osmosis System is the way to go to get the best drinking water. You can check us out

We have soft water here in town so there is no need for whole house water softer.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions..

Thanks 2Aggiefans for the recommendation...

I put a Watts Premier RO system in under the kitchen sink; we get our water from Wellborn SUD and it tastes pretty bad without filtering. The Watts system was reasonably priced and works well. Filters aren't expensive and don't need to be changed that often. I don't have a lot of experience with water filtering, so perhaps there are better or cheaper systems out there, but we've been real happy with this system.

I was going to suggest RO water as well. Brands like Aquafina just bottle RO water from their local tap. If I had the money, I'd go with the undersink RO system. The faucet attachments don't do anything as far as I'm concerned - it still tastes the same to me. And I HATE bcs tap water. HATE it.

We may be calling Culligan too, because I hate Bryan water. There's a problem with the water if it stinks like sewage, after sitting in a clean bowl for 24 hours. Ew. Ew. Ew.

I prefer Bryan water to college station water. When I go to my mom'e I drink from the tap. At my place, straigh bottled water...

justamom ~ be sure to tell James that I sent you.

You will tell the difference right away. I could not do without mine. We are so spoiled that when we visit, travel to football games or whatever, we fill up our bottles with our Culligan water. Yeah!!

Thanks everyone for your advice! I'm leaning more toward the reverse osmosis after reading some things on line and then people here recommending it. 2Ag I will call culliganman and let them know you referred us.

I hate the way Bryan water tastes. My husband has some medical issues that he has to watch his sodium.

Mybcs.com has been a huge help again. Thanks a million!

Woah, was looking at Culligan's pricing[1]. Not to talk anyone out of dealing with the Culligan man, but the service and equipment seems REALLY expensive. The Watts WP-5 system I have cost about $230 and was very easy to install. If you follow the maintenance schedule they suggest, filters will cost about $70 a year.
