I am thinking about switching to Farmer's Insurance for Home and Auto and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them-good or bad. I currently use Allstate but Farmer's is much cheaper. thanks...

Call Adam Koch at the Koch Insurance Agency. He's a longtime TexAgs poster (reloadags1998) and sponsor. He doesn't play the "I'll give you one rate to suck you in and then try to upgrade you" game. He'll ask you what level of coverage that you want and then tell you what it will cost. My wife and I were over-covered, for lack of a better term, with some rental insurance and he lowered it because we didn't need as much.

Hey Tatem -

There are some good farmers agents out there, but just make sure you know what you're getting. There are some major differences from one homeowners policy to another.

There won't be much difference between the Allstate and Farmers policies, but there are companies that offer a lot more comprehensive homeowners policy.

If you'd like for me to show you some different options, give me a call. i've got 30+ companies that I work with, including Nationwide, which offers one of the most comprehensive policies on the market in Texas.

I've had nothing but the best service from my Farmers agent, Doug Henderson, for years now. He is located in Austin and I've referred him to several friends and family members (mom, girlfriend, etc). He has treated them all very fairly. And, when I wrecked my vehicle in 10/06, he went above and beyond the call of duty to help me. Here's his contact info:

I've had Farmers for years with no complaint. We have had several claims with no problem they were handled very quickly, our agent took very good care of us is name is Frank Labarbera and he is in College Station.

As a Farmers Agent myself, I can tell you that they are a very stable and conservative company that will never be in danger of not being able to pay out a claim.

There are a lot of good agents in town, and I am sure you will find one that will work for you.

When looking to switch your homeowners policy, dont just look at the premium, but make sure your home is insured for the right amount; which may be (and usually is) different from what it is appraised for.

Good luck!

A lot of good suggestions... I prefer an independent agent myself. We use Anco.

We have Farmer's and our agent is Randy Flasowski, 691-2534. We have been very happy with the service. They have handled two vehicle claims in the last 4 years and replaced our roof after the big wind storm in April of 2007 with no hassles. My neighbor was shocked that I had a $500 deductable on the roof when he had 1% of his house value.
