I'm needing to get my wedding band re-sized... any recs?

Also, what am I looking at cost-wise?

Fling, on 29th street I think going smaller is cheaper than making it larger.

I had mine done at Montelongoes on University. They did a great job, but I do not remember the cost. But, I do not think it was any higher than other places I got prices from.

I would be careful with some shops, I had a friend take hers to a Jewelry shop at a mall (Houston - Chain store) and they lost her rings!

I used to take my stuff to Fling but got crappy service the last time. Could be a fluke, they were always great. It made me mad though so I went to Montelongo's recently. Super nice people, I think everyone in the place talked to me at one time or another. They resized it while I looked around for no charge.

I have to say that, although the place seems to be unpopular in this forum, we have had nothing but positive experiences at DG. Both David and Dean acknowledge our presence promptly and everyone offers us help. We have had quality work done on several items ranging from "just real jewelry" (ie: real stuff, but not incredibly valuable) to finer pieces.

I will do it right, which means I need to see it to quote a price. PLEASE do not have it done based only on price!!

Some things I consider:
Platinum, White gold, Yellow Gold, widdled out of a single piece of wood?
Is it white gold? (It will need to have rhodium refinished if it is)
Is it going up or down? ..how many sizes?
How thick is the band? (width and height, as I will match it)
How do the rest of the settings look? (I will show you any other potential issues, even on a new ring)
Will the place you bought it do it for free? (You might have a warranty, etc, just being ethical)

If someone will quote you a price without asking these questions, run the opposite way as fast as you can.

Chuck took care of something on my wedding ring for me. It was inexpensive, and my ring was BEAUTIFUL when he finished. I totally recommend him!

I second Fling jewelers. I've been taking my jewelry there for years and before when i worked at a silver store we took things there and they have always done good work
