Wow, didn't realize losing a pet could be so difficult. I guess tie that in with pregnancy hormones......

We adopted Bella (chihuahua) from the animal shelter over a year ago. She was a great dog! Seemed fine last night, but evidently passed away in her sleep last night.

We took her out to Live Oak Pet Services (right outside of Navasota) to have her cremated. My parents had used them before when their dog passed away. Very courteous and sympathetic for our loss. They will even drop off the urn at our vet in town when the procedure has been finished.

Kid are taking it very well. For all those pet lovers out there, hopefully you don't have to use this service anytime soon, but if you do..highly recommend them.

Sorry to hear your little Bella has passed. I didn't know about this place when our 19 Y.O. Kitty had to be put down, but will keep it mind for down the road pets.

I'm sorry for the loss of your little dog.

We've used Live Oak before and have been nothing but pleased with their service, empathy and professionalism. We just wish we hadn't needed them.

We lost our wonderful dog last Friday after trying to save him for several days at the vet school. Glad to hear that Live Oak does a good service because that is where my dog's cremation is being done.

Do you mind saying about how much you guys paid for cremation? I assume it is somewhat based on the size of the pet?

I don't know the cost but you can check their website for more information or contact information.

I don't know what ours is going to cost right now but it is probably a drop in the bucket compared to the vet school bills.

+1 for Live Oak. Sadly, we have had to use them twice in the past couple years.

I am not sure how they price it? We paid $120 for a private cremation (her remains only) the standard urn.

When my parents had their rat terror cremated a few years ago, it was $99.

I am glad this service is available, hopefully no one will need it.

I will give a fantastic testimony for Live Oaks. Scott, one of the owners, has taken care of our family dog that we had to put down last Thursday. He even offered weekend hours to make sure we got excatly what we needed. In addition, just a few months ago I met with him for business purposes and he explained everything he does and I can say he has the upmost respect and humility and empathy for any of his clients and their deceased. TWO THUMBS UP!

Oh and their pricing is based on the weight of the pet and what type of cremation you are getting; private or mass cremation or private with returning of the remains. You can also chose all kinds of memorial items to remember your pet with or to keep their ashes in. It's actually very interesting if you are there and aren't in need of the services at the time. I was thankful I had met with him months prior to ever thinking I would need his services personally. Putting our family dog down was very painful but knowing what was available already made it easier.

Thanks for the info.

Our Bella was a Chihuahua, so about 6 lbs and we did the private cremation.

Scott was the one that helped us and was nothing but helpful empathetic.

Big Hug... it is so hard to lose a loved one.. with paws or otherwise... Sometimes there is just no way to fill the hole....

But.. know that others understand.. and that they are gifts that teach us and never leave us...

We have had to use Live Oak twice in the family over the last 3 years... they were wonderful.

Sending healing light to you and yours...

Just as an update, I just spoke with Scott from Live Oak and I was very impressed with the service and the extra mile he goes to make sure everything is how you want it to be.

Our 60 pound dog's private cremation with basic urn is $140.

I did not know about Live Oak, but the Brazos Animal Shelter also does this.

At the time of my dogs death, that is the only place I knew about. But it was kind of fitting as that is where I got her 11 years prior.

Wapa- I am sorry for your loss.

We picked up Bella's urn today. There was a sweet note and other literature. I wish we didn't have to use this service, but glad it's available.
