I have been hearing this rumor for years, but now I hear that it really could be coming to the area. With HWY 6 almost finished between College Station and Navasota, and No theme park in the Houston Market since AstroWorld left about 5 years ago, there is an even better chance it could be true. Someone just told me they heard about this and said that it was really happening this time. I have also heard that Disney owns land in this area.

With Texas being the 2nd most populated State in the US, I don't see why Disney wouldn't build a theme park in this State.

I know for sure that there are 2 new theme parks planned for the Houston area, Earth Quest Adventures in the New Caney Area and a Texas ranch style theme park in Tomball.

Does any one know more about this Disney Land Texas

i would think its a pipedream with very little validity to it.

Don't tease me with the whole Disney thing. We had annual passes when we lived in Florida. In just over a year, we spent 35 days there. Awesome times with my wife and little girls. Great memories for life!

That rumor has been going around for at least 25 years. It was the big rumor when they were widening hwy 6 between BCS and Navasota when I was in high school in the 80's.... Then it shifted to that they were going to buy the Renaissance Festival... that was at least 10 years ago.

I'll believe it when I see them building a castle on hwy 6....

I've heard Disney has bought up quite a bit of land around Kerrville, but I've never heard anything about plans near B/CS. I can't imagine that they'd be planning on 2 developments so close to each other.

It started around here about the same time the rumor that George Strait had aides started....

And since that was more than 20 years ago, I'd bet both were false.

Sellers love to get that rumor started to drive up the price of property. Then when people find out its not happening their checks have cleared and they've bought land that's way overpriced.

With the huge capital investment recently approved for Hong Kong Disneyland, fund being diverted from WDW in Florida, and the apparent lack of capital investment in the flagship parks in Florida, coupled with the struggling economy, this is extremely unlikely. This is just like DisneySea in Newport Beach, Disney's American Adventure in Virginia, etc. FLorida will get a 5th theme park before Texas gets anything. There's simply no reason for it.

College Station does have its own SIFL team, The Texas Hurricanes.

Because the COCS and the COB cannot agree on the landfill on Hwy 30, they have sold the 600+ acres to Disney. The COCS will be taking their share of the funds to cover their cost of the Ben White Convention Center and the multi-million dollar City Center.

about 20 years ago, the rumor was that Disney was going to build in the East Texas area, somewhere around Crockett.Doubt that Disney is going to build anywhere until the economy improves. Theme parks are having a tough time right now.

I heard that Hooters was opening up in CS at the new Poohs park location. can anyone confirm this?

Disney invests in real estate all over the place. And every place probably has the same ongoing rumor.

the last time Disney did this (florida) They purchased all the land under a ton of dummy corporations, and over a number of years (they owned all the land for years until they built, as to try to allow as little suspicion as possible)

I am sure they would use a similar technique if they decided to build here.

Well, as you can tell by my screen name. I'm a big Disney fan coming to Texas. I even had a website a few years back dedicated to the Texas Disney Rumors.

As much as I would like that to happen.
The chances are small.

Eisner, got burned when he tried to make a Disney America in Virginia.

Disney's money now is going in to fix DCA in California. Then probably the fifth park in WDW.

They are also redoing the Disneyland Hotel in California. And may had 2 new Disney Hotels at a high class mall close to Disneyland.


They are adding local resorts with the latest one being in Hawaii.

If this works for them look for similar resorts in tourist destinations.

Maybe Maybe San Antonio would be considered.

The best bet to get Disney in Texas however is
if Disney would buy the SeaWorld parks.

Anaheiser-Busch just got bought out and the new company wants to get out of the theme park business.

Disney would love to own a park in San Diego
(at one time they had a small park design for San Diego) and by buying the SeaWorlds in San Diego and Orlando, they do remove some competition.

The SA Seaworld would be an easy entry into Texas.

In the year and a half that I have lived here, I have heard ever single rumor that was mentioned in this thread.

Hooters would be nice, though.

Some rumors are just so ridiculous.

Disney is already in the resort hotel biz. Disney Vero Beach & Disney Hilton Head are two examples. I would imagine that IF the mouse ever comes to Central Texas it would be something like this, not WDW or Disneyland style. That said, I'm not holding my breath.

Having been here for more than 40 years, this rumor will not go away. It began when Hannah/Barbera (cartoon folks) actually looked into building a theme park between here and Houston. A study was done but the company decided not to build in this area.

The Disney rumor reappears every few years. As for Disney who knows what they will do but I wouldn't rule out some sort of amusement park coming into the area down the road, but I doubt it would be Disney
