Besides HughesNet and WildBlue, what other options are out there?

I'm out of range for Wickson Wireless.

Texas Broadband and Texas Communications are the only wireless providers worth their salt (other than Wickson, which you say you can't receive).

how much $$ you willing to spend? what kind of bandwidth you want?

I can not say enough bad things about Texas Broadband...WHEN it worked, it was fine...but when I didn't, the customer service was so bad that they should be shut down.

We had it near Brenham (my parents), so maybe it isn't that bad closer to BCS....but I'd never recomend them to anyone.

Now they have Wildblue...which is overpriced, but very reliable.

No more than $75 per month. Not sure on bandwidth, I have unlimited now but don't do a whole lot of surfing. I upload a fair amount of high-res photographs since that's my hooby job.

What about Verizon wireless broadband? Not sure what their coverage is down there, but I like their service just fine.

There is zero cell phone reception at the house, so I think Verizon wireless would be out of the question.

Pam, I have used Texas Communications for about 6 years and have been very happy with their service.

They will have to come do a site survey.

Their crew is based in Bryan.

Do you have digital coverage from any cell carriers. I have used my Sprint phone to connect several computers too in the past and it is about as fast as a low end cablemodem. Unlimited data is under $50 per month.

Not the best for downloading big files, but certainly good enough for browsing & email.

I have yet to find any cell phone carrier that has service at the house. If I had cell service I wouldn't hesitate to get an AT&T wireless card.
