I have looked at the City of College Station web site and found a list of parks that have ponds and allow fishing. I am wondering if anyone has a recommendation on which one would be best to take a two year old fishing for the first time. It doesn't matter what size fish, as long as the pond has fish that bite.
These are the parks that allow fishing
* Brothers Pond Park
* Cy Miller Park
* Gabbard Park
* John Crompton Park
* Stephen C. Beachy Central Park

I know people that have fished at the one at the Police Dept. with pretty good results.

Central Park has been part of a State Wildlife and Fisheries pilot program for several years, and has been repeatedly stocked (in and of itself an amazing thing to watch - they shoot the fish from the transport tank with a hose)with several different types of fish.

Your fishing experience there should be quite good. Remember, while your 2 year old doesn't need a license, you do, unless you meet one of the State's exemptions (age and disability).

Central Park is currently being stocked every other week.

I would recommend the pond at George Bush Library. It has some nice sized fish in it and I can guarantee you will catch something. Go to Gander Mtn. or the Bait Barn and get 2 dozen minnows. Cast them out on a barbless hook (the only kind allowed, I just pinch down the barb on a regular hook) under a bobber about 3 yards from shore. I took my girlfriend out there right before finals and caught about 15 fish between the two of us in an hour. Some of the bass were over 2 pounds with a huge crappie as well.

I did not know this. I will look more into this to be safe for next time.

i also recommend Central Park. I've seen some people be pretty successful even in the middle of the day. don't know what they were using but they caught quite a few keepers.

Central Park - I've never been and not caught something as soon as I started fishing. They like stink bait over there and the other people fishing are usually pretty friendly. Last time I went the oxygen levels were off and there were a lot of floaters /
