I think it varies from place to place... some get paid like waiters (2.13/hr or whatever it is now) plus tips. I believe some places pay minimum wage plus tips as well.

I worked at Double Dave's last year. We were paid $5.85/hr + tips + $1/delivery. That's pretty standard

That sounds like pretty decent money!

Thank you for the confirmation that the delivery charge belongs to the driver...

I believe the theory is, the delivery charge is to offset gas and vehicle expense...

So delivery drivers are not paid mileage?

it means you shouldn't count the dollar as your tip to the driver

I can understand offsetting the vehicle costs with a delivery fee, but is it $1 to make the math simpler? My mileage reimbursement maxed out at 50.5c per mile, and that was last year, when gas was so expensive.

...and hopefully people still tip very well in CS. When I worked at Pizza Hut in 1997, I started at the Bryan store in Westgate. No tips at all hardly, and all my deliveries were ten miles round trip. That didn't even pay for my GAS and gas was cheap then! I transferred to the store that was at Anderson and Holleman (Is it still there?) and I made LOTS of tips and my deliveries averaged 6 miles round trip, with the occasional delivery way out in the country (Marion Pugh or the SW Pkwy extension at the time) . People in CS are very nice and very generous. I really enjoyed the very short time I delivered pizzas in CS. I transferred to the Pizza Hut Delivery here in Murfreesboro and immediately went back to getting practically nothing in tips. So if you are seriously looking for a Pizza delivery job, CS is a good place.

Jabberwocky- please spare the comments. Thank you!
