Anyone know much about Cornerstone Christian Academy or KOR school? I would appreciate any input for either in regards to academics and environment.

I have no affiliation with either school. Our kids go to a different private school. During a recent academic competition (PSIA) both schools sent students. KOR did particularly well with the number of students they sent to the competition. That's all I've got.

Both have to be better than public education. Thats all you really need to know right?

LaceEmUp, do you have something constructive to add? Otherwise, keep your comments to yourself please.

St. Joseph is the best in the area

Thanks Baseball Fan, but St. Joseph's is too far for me. I am looking for a school that is relatively closer to south College Station

If I had to pick between the KOR and Cornerstone I'd likely go with KOR.

My first preference, however, would be to move closer to Bryan so I wouldn't have to limit my choices to just those two.

I'm in south CS and my children go to St. Joseph. The commute isn't bad at all. I don't know the tuition for the two school you're asking about, but St. Joseph is less expensive than Allen Academy or St. Michael's.

There is a reason for the variance in tuition Mimi.

Tuition is not the issue or priority. Travel time is the challenge. St. Joseph is out of the equation. It has to be a school that is close to Hwy. 6 (prefer to be located right off 6). I know about Allen but would like feedback on Cornerstone or KOR. Thanks again everyone. Public schools are out of the question even though I pay an enormous tax load.

Advice related to what you asked about: Those schools you mentioned are pretty obscure, probably best to just ask the schools for references of parents.

---------------------------------------------------

Unsolicited advice:

The suggestion of moving closer to or to Bryan was out of the equation as well, I guess.

---------------------------------------------------

and somewhat off topic:

Step 1. Move to South C.S. for the homes and schools

Step 2. Complain about lack of services in the area

Step 3. Enroll children in private schools, which are mostly located in Bryan

I live in South College Station and my kids go to St. Joseph. If you really want a good education for your childre, should you let a little drive get in the way. It takes me less than 20 minutes to get them to school.

My other kids are in public school, thus, travel time is essential and St. Joseph is out of the question. Obviously, no one has heard about these two schools which is fine. Just thought I'd inquire.

Scotch, no need to be so prejudice!

12th Non-Reg seemed to know about them:

First, I don't have any kids who went to KOR. I did have kids at St. Thomas Early Learning Center years ago and it is a group of those parents who started KOR school instead of sending their kids on the public school once they finished the STELC after first grade. Eventually, KOR added kinder and 1st even though those grades were covered at STELC.

The KOR school has very involved parents. Christian values. It is a four day a week M-Th, half day program with some extracurriculars on Fridays if you wish. I would not say it is like any of the other private schools in town---more like an extended home school program. Small class size. Interested, involved parents. Challenging curriculum.

It does not surprise me to hear that KOR kids would do well in contests and such but I'd think those kids would do well in almost any environment.

Finding the right kind of school for your kids is important so good for you for asking questions. Good luck in your search.

Will KOR and Cornerstone let you schedule a visit to their schools? That way you can see the kids in action and ask questions. Good luck in your search!
