Did I miss this discussion, or has no one brought it up yet? The City council just approved 5 more red light cameras, unanimous vote.

i wonder what information was presented to them to make them think additional cameras were necessary.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED to learn that additional RLCs are going in before we've been provided hard data showing the existing RLC intersections are any safer than they were before.

so at which 5 stop lights will they install the new cameras? i hope they put one on texas/george bush. i always see cars running the red light at this intersection.

We are reevaluating the SH 6 and Rock Prairie intersection (and others) for possible cameras later this fall.

Mr. Traffic, IIRC, a while back you posted some before & after numbers on accidents at the original RLC intersections in CS, but said that the breakdown by approach and type of accident was not yet available at that time.

Is the more complete data available now and can we see it? TIA!

They only target students.

I was sure hoping for one at Rock Prairie and Hwy 6. Hopefully, once all the road work is done the red-light running won't be as bad <wishful thinking>

The majority of them live east of the Hwy 6 bypass. I think only two are west of Hwy 6.

IMO, the only intersections that ever needed red light cameras are GB&Texas and Texas&Holleman. I could be wrong, but those intersections seemed to have the most accidents due to cars running a red light

Mostly because they are still working on the Rock Prairie exit. you shouldn't have any worries as long as you don't break the law and run red lights.
