I have Suddenlink for TV (basic/expanded, no digital etc) and internet. When I signed up in August 08, I got 2 months for $55, but I had to pay a $45 connection fee. After the initial two months the price went to $80.xx. OK, but after two more months, in Nov, the price went up to $83.xx. And guess what, after another two months, my price just went up to $85.xx.
I had verizon dryloop dsl internet previously (never any problems) but dropped it to try the TV/internet together from suddenlink. Verizon will lock your internet price ($18 or $20/mo currently, depending on whether or not you have phone service - you do not need a phone line to get dsl).
Does satellite (direct/dish) lock in your price for the length of the contract or do they raise it like cable does? I have dishes on my roof from the previous house owner so I don't have to buy them. I don't know if I will go satellite, but I am dropping suddenlink next month as soon as my dsl is ready to go.
I only watch a few of the channels and I guess others are willing to put up with the price but it's not worth it, and the constant price increases just irk me. Just state upfront that you are going to raise the price $1 a month. My bill has gone up 7% since from the start of my regular (non-promo) period in October. That is unacceptable. And I told them that, and the response was an offer to transfer me the cancellation dept. I'll soon be doing just that.
