On the recommendations of others I took my boyfriend's brand new car to Aggieland Auto Tint to have the windows tinted. When I got the car home I realized that the weather-stripping on the side window had been sliced with the razor that they used to cut the tint and it was dangling off. There was a corner of the tint that was peeling and TONS of bubbles in the tint, it look like I had gone to autozone and put the tint on there myself.

Having the windows tinted was gift for my boyfriend’s birthday so I was really upset that I had paid a “professional” to do such a crappy job. I called up to aggieland auto tint expecting them to be very apologetic, but they were far from it. The tried to justify the fact that they cut the weather stripping and acted like this type of thing happened all the time! The Llumar company that makes the window tint guarantees NO bubbles and nothing but a professional looking job……well the car looks anything but professional.

I went back the next morning at 8:30am but had to wait outside in my car until 9:00 because they didn’t have a key to open the shop. The owner took the car in for less then 5mins, came back out and said “ok, its done”. He had glued the weather-stripping back on but it is still obvious that it had been cut and none of the bubbles or the peeling tint had been fixed. I asked him if he could take it back inside and fix the bubbles and the corner that was peeling. He told me that it was too late to fix the corner that was peeling because there was already so much glue on there now and that I can’t expect it to look perfect on the corners because “corners are difficult”. I explained to him that none of the other corners were peeling and that I wanted it fixed. He took the car in again and after a few minutes he was back out. He had miraculously fixed the peeling tint but none of the bubbles were fixed! After pointing out the LARGE bubbles for a third time, he took the car back in and smoothed out 2 of the 10 obvious bubbles. I was so frustrated at this point that I just left. I will bring it to another Llumar installer and see if their work will actually look professional.

The car is less that 3 months old, I expected a lot more from a place that specializes in ONLY auto tint.

Bubbles can take a week to "gas" out in this type of weather. Otherwise he needs to re-lay that sheet of film.

I was told two weeks by Ag Solar Guard. I still have a small one on the passenger window that won't go away, so I'll take it in and see if they'll fix it.

They were great to deal with, though.

The bubbles that they left weren't just condensation, those have gone away. These bubbles probably need to be re-heated and pressed out.

I wouldn't go somewhere else until you get your money back. Contact the Lumar folks and send them pictures.

BTW, I have heard a few other horror stories about Aggieland Auto Tint as well.

I just contacted Llumar and they told me that they only warranty the product not the installation and that I must take it up with the installer! I tried taking it up with AAT once and it didn't get me anywhere so I guess I wasted my money. I am a grad student and don't have very much money to throw around, it sucks because this was supposed to be a "gift" and it turned out like it did.

call the BBB and file a complaint. That's total BS that their CS skills suck that much.

Ditto CO. The BBB is your next best bet.

You could always take it up in Brazos County small claims court. I hate to beat the "lawsuit" drum, but they, in your opinion, failed to provide you with the service you expected and damaged your car in the process. I think you would have a legitimate claim.

Ask for your money back and for them to pay for the weatherstripping to be replaced by another shop in town. Might be able to get compensated (at say your grad student stipend rate/hr) for your time. Judge might or might not allow the latter one. Filing fees are fairly low. Start with a certified "Letter of Demand" telling them what you expect of them. Removal, refund, and proper repair of damage.

Over the years we have always used Ag Solar for all our tinting needs. We recently used them again with no problems at all. The little bubbles went away within the 2 wk period.

Id suggest you take your complaint to BBB and be sure to file a complaint with the owners of that company as well.

Sorry your having to go through this

Im sorry you went through all of this, however I appreciate that you gave us all an update on how your service went. I will be getting my windows tinted in the next few weeks and so you have definitely helped me to know where NOT to go! Good luck.

TSUJC, was this the Aggieland Auto Tint on WJBryan across from the Bryan Post Office, or the psuedo-AAT on South College?

I went Aggieland autotint in the past couple of months.

The tinting on my car was real average.

When I picked up the car the first time there was crap all over the windows (I realize the inside would have stuff on it from the job , but the outside, someone clearly didn't care.)

The inside of the place looks completely unprofessional crap all over.

I had to take my car back to get it fixed, and when I did there was a line of people waiting for them to fix screw-ups on there cars as well.

Keep your receipt, if you lose it you are SOL

From what I have heard both tinting places are poor.

I went with LLUMAR because supposedly it is a better product than solar guard (I have had both and it appears that it is)

I watched the guy redo a window on my car the second time while while trying to hold a cigerette in one hand. I grew up in an autoshop, you see it all the time when working on engines etc.., but with window tint and working on the interior of a customers car, not a good idea.

Decided not to take my wife card in later, because of my experience

My brother took his truck there and had bubles show up on the tint as well. They told him he must have rolled down his windows...however his back windows didnt roll down. They still didnt fix his windows even after their failed attempt to place blame on the customer.
