After receiving notice of this discussion, as with other issues that come up, here’s a response perhaps clear the air a little. One by one – here goes:
Shaq – I see your account was just created, 3 of your 5 posts were about KBTX. In a way, I’m honored we were first concern! Our “tiny little broadcast” has been available to DirectTV viewers since we first started in Hi-Def in 2003. This is a DirecTV decision, not a KBTX decision. Only one station in the Waco-Temple-Bryan market was added in Hi-Def. DirecTV chose KWTX because the largest concentration of potential DirecTV customers was in Waco-Temple-Killeen. DirecTV bandwidth availability might have been a factor. It was strictly a business decision. At anytime, however, they can have it. We’ve released it. As for our “tiny signal,” please explain so I can address that. The new digital transmitter, however, goes on-air before mid-February and is the maximum allowed.
If you really did speak to me, the response on DirecTV HD carriage hasn’t changed in years. I can assure you – we are in the business of giving out accurate information about receiving KBTX. While I don’t recall receiving any questions about this particular issue recently, please clarify how you were “lied to.” Hopefully, this clears your concern about HD on Direct.
Jrod is right. ANTENNA is the best way to receive a great HD signal, especially when the new transmitter fires up. Suddenlink offers a really good signal for KBTX-HD as well.
Pooh: KBTX goes on Dish Network by mid-February. Same deal – bandwidth limitations with Dish will prohibit KBTX HD programming, but CBS-HD will be available with KWTX. Again, go antenna for KBTX HD programming. You will be shocked at how much better the picture quality is.
Dave 99: You are right! It is a messed up market! Reasons too lengthy to get into, but many factors prohibit a split from Waco. Overall, it wouldn’t be good for anyone.
Ryn: RE-pop-ups. I don’t doubt some people have this problem. Personally, I don’t. We don’t locally sell ANY pop-ups on KBTX.com. Corporate has a few deals, once every 29-times a person comes to kbtx.com. If you are experiencing a large number, look at a pop-up blocker. Those irritate me as well. With you on that one.
Hugtrees: I’m with you on skiing airing on a Sunday. It is an NFL decision. We air what the NFL and CBS have scheduled.
Krunk: Really? Spin and lie? KBTX is an open book to these and any other issues and I’m a phone call away. The satellite issue been a passion of mine for over 5-years. Being factual with information on satellite and with details on issues like the pending digital transition is critical to our continued growth.
Please know that with all things, KBTX is an open book – you have questions? Call me directly: 979-595-1501. Better yet – the invite is always there to stop by and see all of our documents related to satellite carriage, information about the new transmitter. E-mail works: wright@kbtx.com. We learn from criticism and welcome it. We deserve it at times! Just ask before assuming. We’re right here. Shaq – look forward to speaking with you today! Happy holidays to all on mybcs and TexAgs. Here’s to 2009!
