I have a couple dozen quarts of used oil, a few oil filters, and also a few gallons of bad gasoline. I was wondering where in town they take these? I looked online and only saw the biannual household hazardous waste collection. If you know of the place, is there a charge? Thanks yall.

The City of College Station has an oil collection tank down the road from the police station on the right.

I'm not sure about the gas though.

Thanks southcutt, I didnt think to look under recycling. Looks like I am SOL with the gas until the hazardous waste cleanup.

Yeah, I know it will evaporate, I just need to use the container its in (boat gas tank) before that could happen. Roommates keep suggesting to pour it out behind the house, but I cant do that.

Free oil drop at the City of Bryan Municipal Service Center located at: 1111 Waco St., Bryan. From their website:

"The City of Bryan offers a free Do-It-Yourself Oil Center to properly dispose of used oil, filters and grease. This facility is designed for residential use only! The Center is open six (6) days a week, Monday-Saturday 8:00am-5:00pm, and is located at the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Dansby Ave. The Oil Center accepts:

*

Used oil,
*

Oil filters and
*

Used cooking grease

There are two rendering containers marked for each specific types of oil. We ask that you dispose of no more than 10 gallons of used oil or cooking grease per visit.

*Remember when transporting used oil place in a secure container that may be emptied and reused for future recycling."

Seriously... I have a mobile oil change service and I pick up used oil all the time from "do-it-yourselfer's" and farms... No charge. I can take the old/contaminated gasoline as well. >> Just make sure there is no water in the oil.

That will keep you from getting used oil on your carpets or spilled in the truck bed.

Bump....

I have used cooking oil I need to recycle (yes, still from my Thanksgiving turkeys). CS doesn't have a recycling location anymore, and Bryan's is apparently attended now, so Bryan residents only. Where/how can I recycle this? It's not contaminated, it's been sealed and on my covered patio the whole time. I have about 6-7 gallons.

Twin Oaks says they take it on their website. Give them a call to be sure.
