I hear a lot of complaints but hadn't really had a problem until the last couple of days. it's painfully slow. it's too slow to watch a video online.

anyway, just wondered if anyone else locally is experiencing this?

I was having problems earlier today and again between 10 and 11 PM. Seems better now, but it was so slow earlier that web pages were timimg out and I lost connection several times, as well.

I'm in the metroplex, and it was horrible for me on Verizon DSL and also tried a neighbor's cable connection. Was bad there too. May have been a problem larger than just suddenlink.

Try turning off your cable modem and router for sixty seconds, then turning them back on. It might speed up significantly when it renegotiates.

Check out this site to determine your speed, and call Suddenlink if you're getting less than what you pay for:

Suddenlink cable internet being down or slow is different from normal exactly how?

Actually, not counting TexAgs (which isn't suddenlink's fault) it's been running surprisingly well for us. Please don't jinx it.

Speck: normal for you isn't normal for all of us. I consistently have 8mbit down/500kbit up without any problems whatsoever, and I live in an apartment complex. It's been this way for at least 3 years.

I've had cable service for 7 years now and have not had any significant problems in at least 5 now. Any slowness or lost signal has been an exception, not the norm for me.

I haven't had any technical problems with Suddenlink since I moved into an apartment complex on the west end of Southwest Parkway a little over a month ago (but did get a bill that was nearly double what it should have been). But I had persistent, frequent slowdowns and (most often) interruptions at each of the other three places I've lived in the last five years. Despite the numerous times I called to report outages, only once was I able to talk them into crediting my account, and then not a significant amount.

Some places are fast, some places are slow. I reliably get disconnected around midnight. But I'm also a 'power user' that is sucking bandwidth pretty much 24/7 while at home.

Internet has been awful at home for me. Sometimes resetting the wireless router helps, but last night I became frustrated with timeouts. Not sure what the deal is. In my experience this type of problem is exremely rare.

It's people like speck that ruin it for the rest of us! :p

Yes, I've been having similiar problems at my house. Mine has been having problems throughout the day for the past week or so. I was starting to wonder if it was just me.

When I do this it goes back to working at expected speeds for about 10-15 minutes then it gradually begings to slow down again. It's like someone forgot to put the batteries in the internet.

Guess I need to call Suddenlink.

Uh-oh...this sounds like maybe SL is experimenting with Comcast-style traffic shaping!

I live at the Woodlands and this notice was on my door when i got home from work a min ago :

"suddenlink has informed us that they will be upgrading the equipment in their Master Telecom Center. This planned outage is set to occur Wed, july 2 at 12:01 am as well as thur, july 3 at the same time. the outagte will bring down cable modem services for most of the BCS area for about six hours."

maybe that has something to do with it

Well at least someone got advance notice...I sure didn't! I guess I'll be offline again 52 minutes from now.

Suddenlink is consistently terrible.
