I can't remember which of the 2 record stores that were there was Marooned. Which side of street was it on? Surplus store side, or Holik's side? The old store on the Surplus side is now a Saki Bar, and the old store on the Holik's side is now V-Bar, a trendy bar.

I believe it is V-Bar. There are no good record shops left in this town.

I miss Marooned Records. Great shop with a unique selection.

I thought that Marooned Records is now a Quizno's. Or at least it was.

Am I mistaken?

As you stood at the corner of University and College Main, Marooned was on the right side of the street nearest Holik's. It is/was now a Quizno's.

Disc Go Round was where the sushi bar is.

CD Warehouse was where Pita Pit now is.

You had two great record stores with CD Warehouse and Marooned. Then CD Warehouse went out of business and Marooned followed shortly thereafter. I would have never dreamed the Disc Go Round would have been the last record store standing.

I thought DGR was on the right near/in Antonio's. I remember buying a few CDs from them.

It is now V-Bar.

Quiznos closed in 2004 or so, and only lasted about a year anyway.

There was also CD Warehouse or something like that in roughly the area of what is now Pita Pit. I actually preferred that record store, great used selection and the owner operator was, I believe, from New Jersey and had a great knowledge of music and game many great recommendations.

If someone wants to re-open it, I'd apply to work there. Marooned was awesome.

I bought alot of vinyl records in the 80s- I used to be a DJ- but now I just want to get rid of it all- among my collection is the original FGTH single "Relax" with the orignal artwork.

Antonio's was the bike shop.

DGR was definitely in Kyoto. Ron-E lived upstairs for a while and there were several raves advertised as being "Above Disc-Go-Round."

I remember Ron-E and the upstairs raves. Ron-E also spun at KANM and a few big raves in B/CS and Texas. Anyone know if he still spins?

He owns a motion graphics company and still spins. He's in Austin.

His incredibly hot ex girlfriend spins in Dallas.

Moarooned Records was next to a funny named little store called Condom Station. (3 guesses as to what they sold) It eventually became a coffe bar I think. Did anone actually BUY anything from Condom Station?

BTW What is V-Bar? Sounds like a nightclub of the future...

NOAC: Do you know his ex-girlfriend's name? Just curious. I worked with a girl in '95 or '96 whose I believe was dating Ron-E. I always thought his name was Ronnie, but now I bet she was saying Ron-E and I just wasn't hip to the scene. All the other pieces fit.

Her name's escaping me.

And his name IS Ronnie.

There was a cd store by Fatburgers, where the tutoring place is also. This was in the 80s also. 1984-where did you DJ? I spent the early to mid 80's bar hopping in College Station...even met my current wife at a nightclub (ROXZ).

V-bar is just a trendy college bar.

Oh I never did any professional spinning in CS- I had a very short "gig" in San Angelo at a nightclub called Finnegans but the mamanger couldnt afford to pay me because he insisted I only spin classic rock and its very hard if not impossible to dance to classic rock so the club was never very busy. One night we got a crowd of bar hoppers from club Maximus which was in the same strip center. I was spinning my classic rock like I was told and noone was dancing and people were leaving so I put on the murder mix of "You Spin Me Round" by Dead Or Alive. The other DJ immedialtly got into an argument with me and while we ween't looking, the dance floor very quickly filled up. When we both noticed the floor was full, I immedialtly started the lights goint to the beat of the music. The mamanger was actually able to pay me 25 dollars that night. Thats the only time I ever got paid so I left within a week or so. But I was later told they had never seen the dancefloor so crowded before

I still don't DJ professionally, but I do make hour long continuous dance mixes from the 80s and 90s for my own enjoyment. Todays music sucks compared to then.

BTW my favorite nightclubs back then were the Sundance inside the Hilton and the Edge on SW Parkway in the former Winn-Dixie shopping center.

I have actually been at the club (maximus) at San Angelo. My brother-in-law took us there...that's where he met his ex. Sundance was cool. Also liked 4 for 1s at Dallas nightclub at Deuxchene Apts.

Talked to some "scene" people last night. I was mistaken about Ronnie's ex. She's in Colorado and just had a kid. No one knew anything else.

But she was hot. REALLY hot.
