Is there anywhere in College Station that has ski apparel besides Academy? I know Gander Mountain does not.

Burdet and Sons may have a very limited selection, your best options are probably either driving to the katy mills mall and going to sun and ski sports or ordering online, if you are looking for high quality gear for a great price online i would suggest backcountryoutlet.com which is a ski and outdoors outlet mall online that sells mostly last years models at extremely fair prices another site to check out is steepandcheap.com which is an ultimate discount site that sells one item at a time kind of like the website wootoff does for electronics for ridiculous discounts usually about 75-80% OFF, but you have to get lucky with that site because you never know what they will be selling, but if you are looking to buy in college station but don't want to go to academy there are not many options

Not looking for top of the line. This is the first time to go skiing and dont want to spend a lot of money to find out i dont like it.

Both male and female. I need an xxl and she needs a womans xxl or xl if they dont run small.

Wish I could have helped. My gear is ladies S... I'd need the XL size now days but unfortunately knee surgeries are no longer allowing it. Good luck and hope you have fun -My first time out - just did lots of layers and warm stuff - find a good pair of ski pants/bibs and a water-resistant jacket, warm wool sock and some good gloves... you'll be fine! don't worry about going overboard on the expensive stuff... the first trip on the slopes is brutal enough.... (tip #1... just have drinks at the lodge!!)


Oh btw... avoid anything with a black diamond shape on it!!

Edit: Puts hands over eyes.. recalls going butt first down black diamond slope and landing in the lodge foyer!!

Whoop, many places will rent you all and anything you need right there at the resort. This is probably the best way to go if you aren't sure you'll enjoy and want to keep doing it and you can be sure to get the sizes that fit.

For what its worth, I prefer wearing thermals under sweats and a long sleeve t-shirt when skiing. If the weather is nice, you're out in the sun and are actually moving around enough to keep warm. The main goal is to keep dry, because if you get wet, you'll be miserable.

Ross is a great place for coats and jackets. i got a $150-200 columbia coat for $100. might not have what you;re looking for, but you might find a diamond in the rough.

I got a bunch of ski clothes at Academy a few weeks ago. It wasn't too expensive and worked great for me.

I've got some barely used ski clothes that I'd be willing to part with. They were only worn one time.

I've got black bibs (1 pr men's & 1 pr women's) for sure, possibly a few other pieces. Might also have a men's ski jacket, gotta check before offering it.
