This may have already been discussed here but does anyone have any recipies that kill?

I Have heard that soured grain works the best but i have also heard of people using everything from hamburger meat to soap.

Any suggestions?

bucket of congealed blood. pick some up at your local butcher.

freeze the blood in a block and put it in a mesh bag a couple feet below the boat. It will keep a better patter in a slow flowing river or lake. It will also last much longer.

Get a 30 gallon barrel and soak some wheat or maize in water for about 1-2 weeks in the sun. Add some congealed blood about 3-5 gallons, from your butcher or a poultry processing plant. Mix it all together letting it sit out about another day or so and scoop it out along your trotlines. IT WORKS GREAT !! A lifelong friend of my Dad's used this recipe for years, always worked. Good fishing!

Thanks, and while we're on it. any great home made baits? i guarantee this has been talked about before but oh well.

We used to mix cornflakes, flour, big red and karo syrup in balls, which worked pretty well

as for the chum, i like the blood idea (we are going out this weekend so i dont think i'll have time to make sour maise, but i'll definitely makes some for the future) I was thinking of filling up some soda bottles, freezing them and bringing a knive to poke holes in the bottle out on the boat. that way i can just leave a few bottles in the ice chest and use them as i go without them melting too quick. keep em coming though

Range cubes work as good as anything else I have made / tried. Also, no hassle, just throw them in and in no time at all you're pulling in 'ol Mr. Whiskers!

A buddy of mine gets a 5 gallon bucket and fills it with maize or sorghum leaving about 6" from the top. He adds water level with the grain and then lets it sit for a least a month. Every time we have ever used it, it has worked very well.

I also hear that two or three cups of bleach when dropped in the water will do the trick.

blood take a while to congeal, so get the butcher to side aside a 5-gal bucket for you yesterday.
