Grapevine is a pretty decent little lake. Whites are very good in the summer time, but the whites in Grapevine aren't nearly as big as the whites and/or hybrids you can get into out at Lewisville. For whites and hybrids, I prefer Lewisville. The fish are larger and more plentiful (but then again, so are the boats).
If you have a boat the whites can be pretty easy to find. Last summer they would feed very actively in the morning and then again right as the sun was going down. Waders fishing off of the southeast point of Murrel Park would get into pretty good action for schooling whites as well as some small blacks that would get in on the feed.
I have always caught fish at the bubbles, but as others said, EVERYONE goes to the bubbles.
The lake is pretty good for black bass and crappie if you know how to find them. There are a couple of good crappie guides that know the lake VERY well. It might be worth it to take a day trip with them and learn their spots and techniques.
There are also some beautiful spotted bass in Grapevine. Most of the ones I've caught have been along the rocky cliffs going into Twin Coves.
Try to go during the week when you can. On weekends the lake is full of sailboats and jet skis.
