In Spring behind a gas station there is a drone "tree" and they take off and land there intermittently. they don't seem to be delivering things as there is no store or warehouse co-located with this stand.

possibly doing some aerial surveying in the area?

The drones pick up the food from the restaurant and deliver. This is just the charging/home port.

Walmart has drone deliveries in some areas, have not tried it but my buddy has done it several times, I think this may be zip line at Walmart

Have you seen the automated doordash vehicles?

I have seen some of those bots in some cities on some of my work travels. Haven't seen the drone deliveries in person yet.


Upon quick search, AI tells me that Amazon drone deliveries are being used in Texas in Houston-Richmond, dallas-Richardson, San Antonio, and Waco. They were tested in college station but discontinued. Further, Wal-mart drones are delivering broadly in the DFW area and some in the Houston area such as Spring, Katy, Crosby, Richmond, Missouri City, and New Caney.

Somebody has been doing drone delivery stuff in Round Rock recently. They've got these larger mothership drones that lower a smaller device down to the ground via a cable. Kind of weird watching them not gonna lie.

In the last 2 weeks I have seen 6 or 7 of the amazon drones flying around. One delivered one street over from my house in Oak Forest Area of Houston.

I live a mile from that Richardson warehouse and only a little further from a Walmart with drone delivery. Those things stay busy. I wonder how much traffic they take off the roads. If every flight would've been a car on the road it's a significant amount.

Those look like a lot like Amazon drones. I live in the Katy/Richmond area and they are flying non-stop during good weather. I finally saw one make the actual delivery the other day. It hovers over your yard and a door opens the package falls out from about 30 feet up. I don't like it...

I live in suburban Phoenix which has them running all over the place. One of them got caught up in a swat standoff in Chandler a few months ago.

What is stupid about fast easy delivery of goods? I love it.

My wife and son are sick on the couch and I am an hour away at work, I can have meds and soup deliverd from HEB in less than 30 minutes, maybe faster when they get drones.

you don't have to tip, but wouldn't be surprised if you get asked for one. My wife got coffee at the airport at a kiosk this week. It asked for a tip.

Saw one yesterday in Round Rock at Salt Lick.

Some folks at work today ordered lunch on Zipline app, which is the drone delivery app. We all went outside to watch the delivery. It's was incredibly accurate, and was here in 43 seconds from the time of pick up. It hovered about 200' up (actually hard to tell how high but that's our guess) and lowered a container down on a wire, ejected it, and then hauled off. Pretty cool.
