Remember in the film Titanic when Brock opens Cal's safe? Yeah, that. We finally had the gun safe drilled and opened. Such an absolute shame.

I'm posting these pics to get the opinions of those on here who know far more than I do about firearms and might see something here that could be salvageable. For all I know someone here might like a project, if any of these are even worthy. The only one of the bunch which appears fairly unscathed is the Glock 19 (I might keep that one).

If anyone on here is interested in obtaining anything posted here, feel free to reach out. "Make an offer" is pretty relative here, given the circumstances, but I am definitely interested in knowing if there is anything her for which consensus is "total loss" so I can make arrangements with the Sheriff's office for destruction before I drive back to Texas. I won't go through the three crates of ammunition until I get back to Texas, but it will definitely end up for sale. rtt dot texags at gmail

Updates (as I can get to them):
- Ruger single-nine and Baby Browning are spoken for.
- 870 and lever guns are pending
- Colt revolver is pending

Wow! I'm guessing the safe was in a garage, barn, or shed?

I'd be interested in the lever guns if you decide to sell, but man this is brutal to look at.

Maybe I'm crazy, but those wood/blued guns can be repaired and made useful again. Not perfect, unless you go down the route of restoration, but def useable.

Sent an email about a couple of them. Bore condition is really going to determine how far gone they might be. I'm sure some will make fine beat around/ hunting guns.

I should have mentioned the best part was the smell of all the soft cases, which are now in the trash.

Those are 'wire wheel it and let it rip' quality now. I agree with the above, these can be made functional without much fuss.

The Glock looks like it just came off the production line. HAHAHA.....I'm impressed.

Right this moment, in Washington State near the Canadian border. I'm driving them back to Texas over the weekend.

Most of those appear to be able to be saved to at least be functional/shootable firearms pending bore inspection. Yeah they will need a little TLC!

If you would like to sell them I too would be interested in the levers and the revolvers

Remind me again what happened? I remember you worried that they would look like this but don't remember why

I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

I think a lot of those could be salvaged. Break them down and soak the parts in EvapoRust and then see how bad the pitting is. Put it back together and see if it functions.

Are you bringing all of these back with you? If so, where to in Texas? I sure couldn't commit to any without actually examining them.

A note about evaporust. I use this heavily on parts restoration for tractors and tools. I currently use rust 911 because it comes in concentrate and it's cost effective. I have a big bucket with a basket. On both products do not leave your part in there longer than needed. Put it in for an hour, check to see if you like results. If not, do it 6 hours and 12 hours. It will damage finishes if you leave it too long and it tends to exacerbate pitting that is there as it is a chelating agent and will wipe every spec of rust. I prefer to let it get the bulk and then remove the rest gently mechanically as it will then come off readily.

rust911 mentioned above
maybe corrosion X as well. It's worked great for me on tons of other things...haven't had to try on guns though!!

I'd have zero reservation about using corrosion X on that 870

I don't own a Glock anymore, but this should be used by their marketing dept.

I feel like at one time many years ago when o bought my first Glock, there was some discussion about "just throw it in the dishwasher" to clean it or something. I can't recall now but it seems like something someone would do.

I call them Tupperware guns.

I hope that the OP does not clean it and runs a few rounds just to see if it will cycle.

I was about to suggest you wait until the next blue city gun buyback program, but apparently Texas outlawed them!

I'll probably break it down to make sure there isn't anything wrong I can't see, but it seems to be fully operational.

Update to all those who reached out - I am getting on the road in the morning for 3-4 days and will sort through emails, etc. either along the way or as soon as I get back to Houston. Questions about caliber, models, etc. will be answered then, and arrangements will be made for meet ups on sales. Sorry for not getting to it today, it's been a busy one. Thanks for understanding.
