I have owned the black synthetic version for over 15 years. Great gun.

My question is over the last couple of years, every time I pull it out of the safe the stalks have a white chalky film. Purely cosmetic of course. Just wondering really. Anyone else have this problem?

Could be moisture related. I save all the moisture absorbing packs that come in some shipping boxes and put on top of my gun safe. When I open it I throw them in the bottom of the safe and take a few older ones out.

I have the dehumidifier at the bottom and one of those canisters at the top. Who knows?

If it has the duratouch coating on the stock it will turn white over time, maybe even sticky. Mine did the same thing. Browning/winchester were replacing the stocks for a while. I got a new one without the duratouch coating.

Yes, look into a recall. They have had problems with their synthetic stocks.

It's trying to turn itself into wood. Even a synthetic stock knows it should be wood.

Did you put it next to a purdy 20 gauge??
They will get together and make a lil 410... happens inside the safe. Cant stop it. What you see is the aftermath....

You must be on to something. The.410's have multiplied.

This thread reminded me about my gold hunter that was stolen when I was 13yrs old after leaving the sporting clay course and my brother and friends decided to stop and eat at hooters on the way home.

Teenager brain fart… left them in the bed of the truck. 4 guns gone. I loved that gun. Beautiful.

I have really liked shooting sporting clays and five stand over the years. Have owned, Benelli's, Berreta's and Browning's in SA and OU.
My absolute favorite gun has been the
Browning Gold Sporting Clays and Browning Gold Golden Clays.
I have gathered up two of each and they are all I shoot with now. Browning still makes parts for them and I take care of them best I can.

I am by no means a collector, and own, by Texan standards, a weak amount of firearms. Only 6.

My bird gun is a an a300 ultima in synthetic camo. I have selfishly started looking for a good conditioned gold hunter. I had no idea they were discontinued.

I buy and trade and make a lot of shows and auctions. If I find a good one I'll PM you.

If it's the Dura-touch, there has been an ongoing recall/repair on those:

If it's regular black plastic synthetic, you might try Cerakote Trim Coat wipes (made for auto plastic). That stuff is awesome for auto plastic.

No help on the synthetic stock issue but my Browning Gold 12 was my first ever gun back around 1996 and still one of my favorites to shoot. There is no telling how many 10's of thousands of rounds have been put through it with 0 malfunctions. It's back and forth between it and my Citori 725 sporting any time I get to shoot clays or dove.

Mine has performed flawlessly over the years. I use it for birds and a Citori for clays.

Lots of guys I know that shoot tournaments still shoot Gold Sporting Clays and Gold Golden Clays guns.
I rarely use my 625 and 425 any longer for clays. Tired of being beat up after a day of shooting and doesn't affect my % at all.
