Frau Goodags and I completed the Alaska Highway today. Also known as the AlCan, it was truly a great drive. We currently live in AK, but will be moving to South Carolina over the coming year, and are taking our small SUV down this year. We may repeat the trip next year with our other car. We still have two days of driving in Canada to get to Montana, then we need to get to South Carolina, so we figure another week of mostly non-interstate driving.

The "town" of Watson Lake has a "sign post forest," where, for decades, people have been leaving signs. The site is about an acre and while it's touristy kitsch, it is worth taking time to go through it. We found a couple of Aggie signs, and one for Clute, TX. Given the mosquito festival in Clute, it's appropriate for someone to have left at the sign post forest. No joke, mosquitos have been documented taking down moose in Alaska. Large swarms can take over a pint of blood a day from a moose, and over time moose have died from blood loss.

Three pictures, Frau Goodags with an Aggie sign, Goodags with an Aggie sign and the Clute sign.

I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.
