I was invited on a camping trip to the Devil's River over Labor Day weekend. Haven't camped in probably 15 years.

Not looking to break the bank, but looking for a few "must have" suggestions.

There is a cabin on the property that has bunk beds and AC, so I have a back up sleeping option if it goes that route

so you're saying I shouldn't have bought a "hot tent" for this trip?

If by hot tent, you mean a 2-season tent, I'd save that for when you go back there in the fall or early spring. I'd opt for the AC this time of year.

Take some light action spinning tackle and some small soft plastics and spinners

The camping on the river is a real fun experience, I've gone 3 times on 15-23 mile paddle trips. Never set a tent up just sleeping pad on the rocks, breeze off the water is nice and sound of the water to help you sleep! But cabin not a bad backup option either. Small baits, crawfishy or small baitfish. Do you know where exactly the property it is? Depth of water around there could matter. Can throw bigger darker stuff in the big stretches where its 10-12 ft deep vs sightcasting little riffles in the shallows.
