Any suggestions? Can't prep the area so basically would like to just throw some seed in the fall and let nature do its thing. Sun and shaded areas, minor slope.

Give these folks a call. When we did all our cedar clearing in the ranch in Texas I needed to do some reseeding. Like you a lot of the area could not be cultivated or planted with a no till or grain drill.
At that time they grew all the native seeds at their ranch in Junction.
Very knowledgeable and really salt of the earth folks to deal with.
They were great for us. https://seedsource.com/

Boat racing is like a beautiful woman.......expensive, high maintenance, but well worth the fun!

wouldn't this be a good case for that grass seed netting?

Depending on how big an area… that is a great idea. Maybe also look at the hydro mulching/planting process?
I had that done on a tank dam and it worked tremendous too.

We use a 3-pt. broadcast spreader to reseed native grass while pulling a 12'x 8' drag harrow on long chains behind the spreader and it has worked great to cover the seed up, even in rocky terrain. We have great stands of grass everywhere we have done it so far. So much easier to do it at the same time than going back over all the ground twice. Saves time and fuel inputs.

Have always gone through Turner Seed out of Breckenridge for any native grass mixes we need. Prepare to be shocked at the price of native grass seed. Close to 20k for the 300 acres we seeded.

Roger that on the prices. Texas native seeds are tiny nuggets of gold.

Douglass King Seed in San Antonio (Douglass King Seeds) is another good source that I have used in the past. They are very knowledgeable and helpful as well.

Careful with your timing. Fall seeding might not germinate until spring if done too late

I hydroseeded around d my place earlier this spring when we "had" rain on the way. Of course it missed us. It did hold on until later in the spring when we had some decent rains to sprout but had to baby it because it would burn quickly. Best to do it if ground is already moist or rain around d far as I'm concerned. It's expensive, at least for me it was.

Good people, family run business. You can pick up your order at their warehouse on the north side of New Braunfels.
