Title pretty much sums it up. I have 7 full blood Great Pyrenees pups. They were born on July 3rd and have had their first round of shots. Asking $200.

Great dogs. But they need a herd to protect. Of course a human herd will work.

Do you want a male or female?

Likely female. This would be to come alongside my daughter's aging GP. And she is going to have to make the decision. Any pics of the females you can share I will forward to her and see what she says. Thanks

Edit: I know, they probably all look mostly alike - big cotton balls. But my daughter would need to see.

I only have 2 females. You are correct though. They all look the same.

i might be interested in a male in another month or 2, if you still have any. Waiting on to see the turnout on an expecting litter first.

Thanks for the pix. Good looking dogs. Daughter says she cannot bring a new dog into the mix right now.

Not to derail, but just wanted to post a current picture of my Golden Pyr buddy, Bentley. Half Golden Retriever and half Great Pyrenees. We adopted him when he was about one. He's now coming up on 14 years, which is a long life for a big dog but he has the advantage of being a mixed breed. He's currently around 110 lbs, weighed as much as 130 lbs in his prime. Now he's an old man like me, arthritic and hard of hearing LOL. But still a great dog and my buddy.

All right Col Austin it does not take much to get a dog pic thread around here. This is Ruby one of the females from jagsdad. I'll add her 'older brother' as a bonus.

Note Ruby is the ruler of our house. Wife and kids are completely under her spell.

One thing I've learned from my pyr/anatolian mix is that no matter what you say to them, they don't give two chits.

Are the parents livestock guardian dogs or pets?

The female is mainly a pet now. The male (neighbor's dog) is a LGD.

Most important dog we have on our farm.

The other 4 (2 heelers, 1 redbone, 1 jack russell) are all worthless.

If you want a large lap dog, here is your chance.

Man does that sound like our mutt that had a trace of pyr (and not much of anything else detected in the DNA test). He'd look at you as if to say "I hear you, I understand what you want me to do, and now I'm going to do exactly what I want to do." If your interests and his aligned, then you could say that he followed commands. Best dog I ever had.

In no way do I want to be a contrarian, but the Great Pyrenees I've had have listened and know that "No" means no, I've been amazed by their willingness to please.

No worries, and I should clarify that I'm in no way speaking ill of pyrs. Our mutt was only a trace of pyr so who knows where the stubbornness came from, which mostly showed up in his old age. He was also very loyal, protective (in a good way) and patient with kids which I think are all pyr traits. If we were ready for a dog at this point, I'd be on my way to College Station to pick up one of these pups.

I guess I should have said mine is only 8 months old. She's already started patrolling and stands guard for me while I work in my garden. She just likes doing what she wants when she wants. She also seems to have selective deafness. great dog I wouldn't trade for anything.

Our Pyr is the best dog we have ever had. He is endless entertainment even when he is laying there giving you the famous Pyr "side eye".

Go get one if you can. Awesome dogs.

Inherited a Pyr/healer mix that my daughter adopted for school and could not handle or maybe he could not handle the college life.

Aside from fixing a few issues that environment caused, he is an absolutely awesome dog. 16 months old and 120 lbs. Really smart, really calm. He actually listens very well for most commands, though recall can get a little slow. Maybe the heeler part offsets that part of the Pyr. He does guard and is pretty Velcrod to me.

Scared of loud noises. Got back from our walk this morning and the smoke detector battery chirp happened. He immediately went out back. The. I couldn't find him. Not normal and kinda hard to lose something his size. Found him hiding in the bushes.

Would agree with others, he is probably the best dog I have had.

Ours is does not like random beeps and noises either. They really freak him out. When the electricity goes out he hates the silence. When it comes back on he is freaked out about all the noise coming back on at once. Don't even get me started on thunderstorms.

My son left 2 weeks ago for his fish year in the Corps. Goose had gotten very routined to the chime on life 360 meaning his boy was coming home. He still goes and sits at the garage door waiting for him to come in when he hears the chime.

I think every dog learns Life360.

Thankfully Winston is pretty selective about the loud noise fear. Thunder and fireworks don't bother him. Loud cars sometimes. Seems more about loud electronic noises and even music. Which I theorize is related to being way over stimulated in a college house with loud music and stupid college kids doing college stuff.

Much better with us boring olds.

My apologies to Aston and Doc, I was negligent in reading your posts thoroughly. It's been several years since I've been through a Pyrenees pup's first 18 months. They are cantankerous and test your patience for sure.
