Anyone have a read on this guy? For what it's worth, it is on a pecan tree in southeast Texas. I have tried several free online insect ID apps and get anything from good guy to bad guy.

Possibly some species of leaf-footed bug?

That was my initial thought. Have had leaf-footed bugs on them before but usually later in the year. And this one doesn't look "quite right" for the ones I have seen but maybe that is based on the maturity of the bug? I don't know as I have not seen one like this previously and not at this time of year.

immature Assassin Bug, family Reduviidae.
Good guy, eats other bugs. Some species can give you a painful bite if you grab them bare handed.

Yea no thanks. Had one decided to sting me on my shin. Damn it hurt. Left a little hole for a while.
