Howdy, I continue to be AMAZED at the things I learn/never knew on OB! How in the world do you make if you are not a Ag and cannot read OB? I learn, see, hear all kinds of stuff. At my age and with some mobility issues I can still relive my times in Belize fishing for Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon, or in CO fishing for trout, or with Grandsons hunting rabbits, coyotes, rabbits, dear and dove from the posts here.

I am a better griller and smoker, I can do a pretty fair brisket from what I have learned here.

I am a better Grandfather from reading Mason B's posts and now book.

I gotten plumbing, car fixing and home advice. In fact just learned today about some WiFi devices I want.

Thank You to all that post their tales, pictures, advice and comments. This board is OUTSTANDING, I seriously could not get along without it!

THANK ALL OF YOU AGS THAT POST!!!!

We have some very knowledgeable posters on here, that is for sure. I am not sure there is a problem out there that someone here doesn't have experience with. We have created a pretty special place here in our little corner of the internet.

Agree with all the OP had to say.... and yet the OB has lost a lot of really legendary posters for one reason or another over the years (Or at the very least their input has declined tremendously) that are sorely missed.

This is one of the few message boards that I frequent where I actually get some degree of edification and there's some modicum of intelligence and integrity. And those commodities are fleeting these days.

I really do love this board. I have blocked alot of other websites because they just are time drains and dont offer much to my life but this one is full of useful information and brotherhood.

Plus where else could you get recs for $60 socks, $90 gloves, and $300 sleeping bags?

Jk. Kind of.

I always chuckle at the vast range of prices on certain items people ask for recommendations on.

This place is like a big campfire or pickin' room at Luckenbach. Just drop in a few minutes, hangout, then leave looking forward to the next time.

this board is like the Toby Keith song, I love this bar…

We got duck dudes, we got snake nerds
Folks that need help with ID-ing birds
And we got hunters, that rarely shoot deer,
We've got a bunch of 6.5 queers
And the other boards all need our help and pitchforks

I love this board

thankful you don't run those of us without an Ag tag off. I did try to get my son to go to A&M but was not successful. Only board I look at with regularity.

I'm thankful for the same. Even though I'm a Longhorn, nobody has ever written anything negative about that fact. More adults here than on some of the other Texags boards.

OB is like the Aggies Only Forum I first joined over 20 years ago. Before 2 and 3 star forum. The similarities are striking which is why I hang around here.

Unfortunately AO was gutted by Varsity Premium and never recovered.

Bonus: I got my latest pup from here. Ruby rules our household and makes my wife smile and laugh way more than I do.

I consider myself a jack of all trades and a master of a few. In one of my past careers, I was an Ag/science teacher, so sharing knowledge is just what I feel God put me here to do. I also believe we should do as one of my favorite teachers said" learn something new everyday". Metz Zerr '46 but didn't graduate until '48. He was busy navigating a troop transport ship in the Pacific.

I have learned much in my life - there is a God and I'm not Him and I don't know everything.

For stuff you don't trust to utube, I believe this is the best place around for learning.

You might get smart-ass answers, harassed about your level of intelligence or just plain made fun of (in good nature of course). But filter all that out and you will most likely get some of the best learning /advice to be found in this world.

It is an amazing community. I've learned a lot on here. When I need info or advice I often put the search term in GOOGLE with TexAgs and find old posts about stuff I'm trying to figure out. It's clich but true the OB --- "Just Knows Stuff".

Yeah, I've learned a ton from people on here. Mostly about firearms, since I didn't know what firearms were prior to 2010. We only had BB guns as kids.

We should have a sticky at the top with posters names and the things that they know a lot about; like bender for cool and unique weapons, me for hognose snake identification, Ursus for weird roadkill recipes, etc.

I love Texags, met a ton of cool people, bought some great firearms, learned how to cook some good stuff, received great career advice, got a great deal on a new truck through here, etc. the list is endless....

Didn't know you were a longhorn. How did you end up on Texags OB?

Some of my high school classmates became Aggies. I served in the military with Aggies. I know Aggies that died in the service of our country. Then I ended up working for a number of years in College Station. As we learned more and more about A&M and its rich history of military affiliation, the more we came to love Aggieland and Aggies.

But how I actually found Texags is something that I don't remember (it's been a while ago). But it looked like a good place to interact with other like-minded individuals. So, here I am!

Have not had the opportunity to become an Aggie yet but have been obsessed with attending since I was a teenager. It's my dream to become an Aggie engineer and will find myself doing it when the time is right. That being said, the OB has been a huge recourse of information from a bunch of really great people.

I ended up on Texags when I was in school at A&M and love of Aggie sports. Not sure why I remember this, but driving down University by Northgate there was a marquee at a bar(may have been the old Shadow Canyon, but it seems like it was closer to Freebirds)that had texags.com on it. Always curious how people end up at Texags that have no affiliation to the school. When you said you were a longhorn I just had to ask, but it doesn't really matter. Glad to have you.

On the black Friday thread you gave me a recommendation for ziess terra 8x32 for my Mom to take on her cruise to Antarctica. My parents loved the binoculars. They have never used binoculars of that quality, so they were very impressed. Thank you for the reccomendation. Your knowledge of binoculars is always impressive.

Never knew you weren't an Ag. Doesn't change my opinion of you. You're top class in my book.
