Are outdoors. And I need to locate one. Anyone on the OB happen to have one they'd be willing to sell?

The 30D was first manufactured in the mid 80's if I remember right. Very dependable 3 cylinder two stroke that was one of Yamaha's best selling engines.
Do you need the electric start or manual version?
The electric starts all had Yamahas electronic oil injection but only the first manufactured manual starts had it. Do you have a preference?

I would take either. My preference is probably the pull start though.
Thanks.

I'll reach out to some Yamaha tech guys I do business with and see if they might know of one somewhere. I'll also check with some of my other colleagues/contacts and see if I can locate one. May take a week or so.

Awesome. Thank you.
I do need. Lind shaft and I will be planning to put a jet kit on it.

You mean long shaft I take it. Long shaft is for 20" transoms. Xtra long is for 25". You need it for a 20" right?

Correct. Long shaft (20").

My research tells me these are very simple, reliable, and powerful for their very low weight.

They are. Just about bullet proof. One of the most dependable workhorse outboards Yamaha has built. Folks know that, so they are hard to find in decent shape without a gazillion hours on them…..but I surely don't mind putting forth some time and effort to hopefully find you a good one sir.

I have learned that I actually need the short shaft motor for it to work on my boat once I add the jet pump. My mistake.

I kinda figured that when you said you were going to use a jet drive. Some folks consider a 20" shaft to be a short but it's not. Often confused.
I reached out to some folks today about it but everyone is on Christmas break. Pretty much the entire marine industry shuts down from a week before Christmas till after the 3rd or 4th.
Probably not going to get a hold of anybody that can help me till after the 5th when everyone comes back.
They all will be going like house a fire because boat shows start in January.
I have lots of contacts to reach out to.
Have a blessed and safe New Year.

No worries.
I do have a question for you though. I have a chance to buy a 2000 model Nissan NS25 for this project and if I'm not mistaken, that's basically a Tohatsu and parts are still available. It sounds like this is also a good choice. Thoughts?

Yes sir. That year model Nissan was built by Tohatsu. Good little engines. Very simple basic motors. Their weak spot was the water pump impellers were very low quality when new. (Have no idea why) Most folks would have them changed out in a year or so. They also were noted to have CDI box failures after the engine got 3-4 years use on it.
Also it is recommended to run ethanol free gas in them all the time.
Hope that helps.

ETA: Just bringing up that as a general rule the jet drive will cost you about 30% or a little more in horsepower.

Yes sir.

I also found an 1980 Evinrude 25 HP with a jet already on it. Very clean and running well. That may be an option.

You will have to depend on only aftermarket parts or NOS parts for the Evinrude as no new OEM parts are being manufactured.
