How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looking for someone to do some minor gunsmithing on a rifle and was curious if he was still doing his thing.

Idk, we've seen several posters having to take their AR-15 builds elsewhere to have things fixed.

Might look at other options?

Wow - I just looked him up - he hasn't posted on Texags since January! Pretty crazy, since most of his early business and support came from here.

What work are you trying to get done, good chance someone can either help ya out with it or send ya to a good smith!

Yeah sounds like I need to find another option.

I just need to get a barrel threaded on a older model Marlin 336. I'm guessing to make room for the threads the mag tube will have to be shortened.

Any recs in the Houston area?

In Houston, Ranger Point Precision is who I'd reach out to as they are pretty much the top company in modding out a lever gun. Not sure if they do in house threading but no doubt they would have recommended smiths in the area.

Burdett's has threaded a 1895 for me in the past where a tube needed to be shortened. They did a good job!

I had nothing but good experiences with eyeguy, but I know that was all over the place from reading other posters experiences. He posted awhile back and it was something to the effect of, he grew his business but that led to some quality control issues as he depended more and more on other employees. I think he scaled things back to closer to what he started as. Not sure if he has an in house gunsmith anymore so you're probably headed down the right trail looking elsewhere.

"What he started as" was throwing up deals on Texags and interacting with the OB here. We bought a lot from him, myself included, not because his deals were all that great (they weren't), but because we were trying to help out a fellow ag and OB poster. Kind of disappointing that he doesn't drop by or respond to basic requests on his site any longer.

This is where you want - took a 7mm-08 in there two weeks ago and had it back the next day. Quality work for a fair price. Cannot recommend enough

Lohmann has done excellent work for me. Eyeguy has done good work for me as well and fixed issues that came up when the work wasn't acceptable. Not sure why he doesn't post anymore, maybe give him a call and ask him....

Eyeguy isn't setup to thread barrels and would need to send it out. He doesn't have much time to post anymore since it's him and one part time employee plus his engraving business is taking up a lot of his spare time.

Last time I asked him about Texags, he said he wants to be more active again but day to day stuff keeps getting in the way.

I was trying to sum up this thread from memory in the post you responded to. Here it is from eyeguy himself.

Putting a bigger "eyeguy update together" but saw your other post. Barrel threading is a freaking nightmare around Houston right now and I don't have anyone reliable to farm it out to.

My rec would be full armor... they are going to be a bit high but they do it in house.
