I have a Merkur 38C because I like the longer handle and use Astra blades.
There are many out there to use.
I use a Merkur because it fits what I need. I have a full beard that I trim around the cheeks and neck. It's easy to handle around lines.
If you like an aggressive cut and you have the time to find one, an old Barbasol floating head is a great safety razor. It's heavy enough to cut through course hairs and has a lot of blade exposure on the head to leave a smooth surface. Finding one can be expensive though.

I use Accuforge when I use my DE razor, which is less and less now that I found the Phillips One Blade - which may be sacrilege, but I'm ok with it.
You can also try a sample pack from Razor Emporioum - Sample Pack Options - they have several to choose from. That's how I landed on the Accuforge.

I've tried numerous types and I think Henson is the best.
Just my opinion but I always had to shave a lot more carefully with the other brands, whereas even in a rush, I always get a clean shave.

I second Henson brand. I bought it on a whim and the only complaint I have is that it's a bit difficult to get the parts completely clean from any residual shave cream.
I shave every other day, get knicked about once every 6 months, never, ever get razor burn, and I can make the $10 pack of blades last about 2+ years

I've never had a blade go past 3 shaves without serious dullness setting in, probably a combo of the blades and my hair.

Henson makes the actual razor. The blades they sell as part of kit are RK I believe and are a decent value blade. That's what I use. But the razor itself and how it shapes the blade when it's set seems to be the best I've tried
1960s Gillette adjustable Fatboy from 60s and a 70s era Gillette adjustable slim are my faves.
Modern era really like my Rockwell, I think it's an R6, with the different plates for adjustment.

Just checked and I haven't bought blades since 9/16/23 and still have a crapload (even being a 3x shaver in a weeks period)
F the brush and soap if mentioned, just use a quality shave gel followed by some good aftershave cream and no bumps, etc.

I bought a package of 100 Feather blades on Amazon in 2020 and I'm still not finished with it.

Bought a thousand pack of Derby's on deep sale back in '12. I suspect I will die of old age before I use them all.
I mainly use a Merkur. Also rotate in several old Gillettes occasionally.
For blades I use Astra, Shark super stainless and Derby. Astra is my favorite. I shave every other day and typically use a blade for a week. Plus I'll occasionally rock a beard. I ordered about 500 blades years ago and at this rate I may never use them all.

Feather
I used a Merkur Future for years, then a few years ago got a Henson.
Henson + Feather Blades is about as good of a combination as you can get.
My only gripe with the Henson is that it is made out of Aluminum so it is pretty light, or at least felt really light after using the Merkur for so long. I wish Henson would make a handle out of Stainless Steel.

Merkur with Derby blades.
I finally put my Merkur up and switched back to throw away 2 blade Gillette's. DE razors just don't work well for me unless I do 4+ passes and I don't have the patience for that in the morning.

Mantic59 over at Sharpologist is one of the best resources for getting into wet shaving and he has the best tutorial videos. You can catch him sporting some Aggie swag in some of the videos as well. He is based in CS and I have seen him on Texags before.
I have a Merkur 24c and an Edwin Jagger. I like the Jagger better because it's heavier.

My Merkur model 180 long handle is going on 14 years old now. Works just as good as the day i bought it. As for blades, i only use the yellow box (not black box, they are bad) Feather blades from Japan. Nothing cuts as good as them.
If anyone is looking for a razor, I've got some I'll part with.
Timeless razor with Gillette 7 o'clock blades.

95% of the time its with a Rockwell set to 3 with Gillette Nacet blades(purple and gold with a croc on the package). Getting harder to find last time I was shopping for them since i believe they're made in russia. I rotate in an old Fatboy and a Slim occasionally, but the safety bars on both are off just a hair and makes it hard to get an even shave.
Edwin Jagger handle and Israeli Personna blades for me. I change the blade once per week and shave every day but Saturday.
