How noisy are mini splits?

TLDR - Considering adding a mini split to our master bedroom but a little concerned about how loud is the air handler? It will be ductless with the blower very close to the head of the bed. Anybody have a similar set up and do you find the noise annoying?

Our bedroom is on the first floor, which has its own dedicated 5 ton unit, but it is at the very end of the duct run. Just doesn't make sense to me to blast that big 5 ton unit just to keep one room cooler overnight?

I just installed a 24k unit at the foot of my bed in July. I would say that it is louder than the best ceiling fans, but far quieter than any stand alone fan. Also, the vents make a little noise as they oscillate, which can be turned off.

Yea they much quieter than a window unit and I guess could compare to a white noise machine.

I slept in a cabin with a mini split above the headboard and the outside unit right outside the same wall. There were vibrations when the unit kicked on and you could definitely hear it when it kicked on. It didn't keep me awake, but it woke me up. I would not recommend mounting it on the same wall as the headboard. Move the bed around if that is the only wall you can use.

Put a dual blower 18k in a couple of rooms in shop. The blowers don't make any noise and you can only here the compressor if you are standing right next to it.

Don't wall mount the outside unit on the same wall as your bed. Put it on a ground mount. The inside unit won't make any more noise than a ceiling fan.

I use one in my voice over studio. So, noise is a concern. Mine does not cause any problems.

I have one of these guys https://www.mitsubishicomfort.com/products/m-series/msz-jp
installed in my outdoor bathroom with a pass through to our outdoor kitchen pantry, 120v and it also heats. Bathroom is 10x12 and pantry is 10x4 so 160 sqft. Works well enough to dehumidify the after shower steam and keep the pantry items 72-78* year round. I have it set on auto and it is variable speed so I never hear it.
