Mexico's president was critical Thursday, suggesting that the U.S. is exaggerating the threat to its beef industry from the parasite, the New World screwworm fly. The female flies lay eggs in wounds on warm-blooded animals, hatching larvae that are unusual among flies for feeding on live flesh and fluids instead of dead material. I have bad feelings about this. Cattle prices are about to go higher.

Politicians in Mexico are saying they need to close THEIR southern border to avoid this sort of thing.

Yeah all the Central Americans they let go thru their country previously likely sped up the problem.
They have themselves to blame for All of their problems.

On a related note, Midwest women have the most annoying accents.

Wasn't screwworm what they tried to eradicate with the flies in the 70's? I remember making fly traps out of milk cartons and we would count the dead fly's and turn them in to the extension service.

Even the old canner cows are bringing good money now. A good friend sold at the San Saba auction on 7/10 his steers 500-600 weight brought between $3.60-$4.00. He is keeping all of his heifer at this time and will cull later along with some older cows. He added that good bred cows were bringing around $3500.
