I've never been to Kona before and heading there late October.

Is the fishing good that time of year?

Looking for any charter rec's or other advice.

Been striped marlin fishing in Cabo with quite a bit of success, but never taken a shot a one of the big blues.

Thanks in advance.

Had the captain and crew from Sweet Sadie Kona stay with us when we were managing a fly fishing lodge in Belize and they were great to spend time and fish with.

Do the full day. You really start catching 4-5hours out. Half day can't get you there.

Absolutely recommend going out on the TopShape.

I've been 3 times with them. Each Hawaii trip I went on, I fished 3 full days on the TopShape. And my Grandparents fished with them twice a year for multiple days each time for the last probably 7 years they went to Hawaii.

We knew the firstmates family here in Texas. While in Hawaii, had dinner at least once each trip with the Captain and crew's family. Was like we were family.

Only place I've caught all my billfish, minus a sailfish here in Texas. First time in Hawaii, I had a Kona Slam. Which included a released 800ish lb Blue. My last time out, we had a triple header that we caught and released all blues, and almost hooked a 4th blue doing so.

If there are fish in the area, they'll put you on the fish. The technology the bigger boats have nowadays is amazing.

we have fished with Russ Nitta a couple of times. Fun guy and he works hard to put you on fish.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Sometimes takes the first four hours to get to where the fish are. Everyone does the half day. 2 hrs out....2 hrs back.... fishing starts getting great at about 3 hrs out.
