I'm seeking a 65-gallon UTV sprayer with a boom for a 20-acre pasture (about 7 trees/acre) and a wand for home pest control, upgrading from a 15-gallon CountyLine sprayer. I'm comparing the FIMCO ($750) and Ag-Spray ($1,500) 65-gallon UTV sprayers with 7-nozzle booms. I considered a self-powered skid sprayer but lack a good way to load/unload it. Any experience with these models or advice on the best option for my needs?

I have a Fimco Boom Sprayer that is a 3 point hookup for my tractor. It has foldable booms and I think 5 or 6 spray heads? It is probably 10 years old and has been good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Fimco sprayer.
Can't comment on the Ag-Spray......

The key to longevity with any sprayer is cleaning it after use.

I have one of the FIMCOs from TSC that is 60 gallons, about 8 years old. I have an 8 ac hay meadow and another 15 ac pasture that I treat around 2-5 times a year. Herbicide and insecticide for armyworms and stem maggot. It has the 10' boom with 7 nozzles on it and except for my screw ups, has held up remarkably well. Before I ever sprayed with it, I changed the 1/2" diversion and pressure regulator hardware to 3/4"and haven't regretted it.
Like any other sprayer, if you don't care for it, things will break. Not draining the lines and pump before a big freeze will bite you. But overall, I consider it to be a good deal. If I need really good coverage, I put out 30 gal per acre so can do a 2 ac load. Yes, it is time consuming but I have the time. I can lower the pressure and change nozzles (currently using air induction) to get more acreage per load.
I don't have experience with the other you are asking about.

I have been using the 65 gal Agspray UTV sprayer with the 7 nozzle boom for about three years now. I use it about 5 times a year... no problems or issues to report so far. I did add on the 50' hose reel which makes hand spraying much more enjoyable. However, reel is heavier than it looks and makes the overall weight of the empty tank (when the hose reel is attached) a bit heavier.

I think both brands of sprayers and booms are nearly identical. The overall design of the tank and choice of fittings appear to be the same. The major differences (from what I can tell from online information) are the color of the tank and the pump. The Agspray comes with a Shurflo pump (45 psi) and the Firmco comes with a Highflo (60 psi). Shurflo has been in the pump business longer, but I hear good things about the other brand.

Overall, I think both units are equivalent except for the pump. I would not be surprised if the same manufacturer made both sprayers.

Get a fimco, American made. Well as much as it can be. I'm sure any pump will be foreign built. I don't know about the other. I have one I haven't assembled yet in the shop, so I can't speak to the durability.

I built one out of a 275 gallon tote with 10' spread for about $400. I can put it in the back of my Polaris and fill about 100 gallons. Mounted boom to the frame of Polaris so the squat doesn't affect distance to ground. I have also filled her up and put it on my utility trailer for more capacity.

I honestly didn't want to have to drop $1000+ and still have to fill it up multiple times to finish. I wanted capacity without the price tag. I've just about got it dialed in on knowing exactly what I can do with 100 gals to make cleanup and storage easy.

Might look into northstar. I have one of their boomless. Been happy with it for a few years now.

Thanks for all the responses. Great feedback. I settled on the 65 gallon Firmco with boom. I've thought about going boomless but with so many trees I'm concerned about overspray. I feel like I can get a little more control with a boom.

Should get an immediate 3-4 uses out of it when it comes in next week so I'll report back with findings!

Good thread. I've been debating on something similar but wondering if I should get the UTV sprayer or a 3 point version for my little 30HP tractor? My Kawasaki Mule is smoother to drive with an easier hook up for the electrical plug. My tractor turns shorter and I would be able to control the boom height with the 3 point much easier but I'd have to run the electric under the hood and hook it directly to the battery.

Anybody have any experience between the 3 point versions for a tractor vs the ones that go in the bed of a UTV? What's your preference?

CrossTimbers posts on occasion here, and he makes sprayers like you are looking for. My experience is that you need to be able to apply a minimum of 10 gal/ac (15-20 is better).

I have a 150 Gal boomless and it's great except when it's windy, which where it ranch is, is almost 100% of the time.
So it's hard to use most of the time.

In my LIMITED research on 3-point configurations I noticed a lot of reviews discussing issues with how the tanks are attached to the metal frame. The FIMCO 40G 4-nozzle sprayer has a lot of reviews that talk about the bolts ripping out of the tank and causing problems. That said, you never know how rough some people might be on their equipment.

I also really like the look of the UTV 65 gallon sprayers. Low profile with handles on the top making it easy to grab ahold of and lots of reviews discuss the internal baffles creating a lot less slosh in the tank.

I bought a marine deep cycle 12v battery and keep it on a trickle charger. When I'm running something like my sprayer, I just set it in the bed of the UTV and don't have to worry about getting to the UTV battery. Useful for a whole lot of items meeting 12v . Works for me.

I missed your UTV application. Mine is a 3 pt hookup with a Hypro type pump. I didn't know you could get enough pressure with an electric pump to properly work a 7 nozzle system.
